Re: My Journey on Video Poker
All good and valid comments. The only thing I can add is find what works for yourself, learn to play the best you can for that game, and past performance is not a guarantee of future results

Another day, another royal...
Got off work a bit early and decided to see a movie, “death wishâ€. Appropriate title for vp players (kidding). Anyway, Charles Bronson original still the best.
I had some about 10 min before the movie started so decided to play a very short session of the single line progressive 10/6.25c DDB games for they are very close to the theater. Unfortunately, the casino finally took away the full points and multipliers on the game since Boyd took over aliante and its back to the crappy $4 in equals 1 point. What a shame. Anyway, got lucky and spiked a quad aces no kicker and cashed out of it +$160.
After the not so good remake of Death Wish, decided I had one of my own after sitting down on .25c 5 play deuces. But the RNG has other plans as I flopped a straight flush and a few hands later flopped a Royal with deuce. Up on the game +$250 I was thinking of cashing out but decided against it because I had time and felt fine. Was starting to wonder about that decision when I flop 4 to a Royal. With a quick prayer pressed a button and sure enough on line C spiked a Royal. Cool. I played down to a total of $1500 or up a grand total at this point +$1200 which includes the aces on the DDB machine. So I decided to take $200 and try to see if there was anymore luck on the .25c 5 play bonusnpoker wheel game. There was not.
So, we leave the casino up a total of +1,000 pretty much on the nose.
Can’t complain...and if I did, who would listen anyway.
Cheers!
PS. RIP Paul Magriel, backgammon and poker player who was very influential in the gambling world and wrote a book still considered the “bible†of backgammon called simply “backgammon.†I’ve seen him a few times where I work on the strip and his physical deteriorating state. But his memory and influence will go on for a good while. I am not aware of any comments or articles from him concerning vp.
Cheers!

Number 26 in your program is being replaced by number 27. Congrats DM.
I believe I saw a number of "Death Wish" bad reviews equal to the number of royals you've tallied so far. I will not be seeing that movie and the original is the better movie.

DanN.....this appears to be a absolutely amazing run you are on ..... 27 royals, and so many winning sessions!!!Before I generate any more hyperbole, can you just summarize again where you are at right now (since this thread is 107 pages long lol)...... Over how long a period have you managed to hit these 27 royals? Roughly how many hands do you estimate this string of 27 royals encompasses (because it seems to me, at first glance, you are popping way way better than the once every 45K hands average!)??Is this you standard modus operandus, to simply play a couple hours each day after work? Do you play Longer on your days off? What's your average weekly hours playing VP? And finally, do you ever play anywhere else besides Aliante, and if so where are your other favorite hangouts for VP?I'm 100% believing your results because you are in Vegas, but I'd also like to point out (and Jeter and anyone else here who plays in AC can back me up) that the type of run you apparently are on NEVER happens in AC, at least as far as I know going back over the last 8+ years!!! Any onfo you can provide to my questions is appreciated. I have a tentative business trip planned in June (early portion of the month it appears at this point) for the west coast and I am going to try and return home via Las Vegas, so perhaps, if you are willing, we could meet for the first time?? Anywhere you choose....I personally do not ever recall visiting ALiante.

This would never occur in AC. One per 100,000 hands sounds more accurate. Embrace break even.

Daburgler...you have a lot of questions I will try to answer the best I can.
1. I don’t count my royals...FAA decided to go back to the beginning of the thread and count them since Sep 2015. I assume it’s accurate, I don’t know for sure. I’ve been hitting more royals since playing more 5 play, which seems logical since playing more hands, but still over-royaled lately.
2. Standard operating procedure is playing when I can and still do everything else, which is usually a few hours after work. I do play in my days off, don’t know how long...time of play is by ear. Like most gamblers, I tend to play longer when I’m down, shorter when I’m up. No hard rules.
3. I would say 10-15 hr a week is an average. I play mainly at aliante due To proximity which is important to me. I also have played at rancho fiesta, Santa Fe, south point, and other places. Too seldom to really mention but in general, off strip casinos are the place to play for any decent vp. Yes, there are better games and promos out there than just aliante. But like I said, proximity is important to me. Also I’m at top of slot club status, get treated very well, and earn a ton of points and comps. Something a tad tougher when playing all over the place.
Finally, I have no secret formula to win. I’m on a general positive variant streak lately. Without a single royal a few sessions ago it would be very different. I am not playing a positive game at the moment, ugly deuces is 98.9%, but with all the points and comps likely close to break even.
Regardless, will keep riding the wave.
Don’t know if we can meet, my schedule is tight. But go to vpfree to seek out the good games you want to play and go there.
Cheers!

Not that I seek attention but I believe it was me who counted them starting back from post 1 page 1. Check out my post of March 1, 2018 in this thread, maybe on page 103?

Correct, Ted. Not that you are, but I'm not fanatically jealous.

Up, then down...then up, then down, then up again...kind of.
The session tonight was just one of those rollercoaster sessions that happen now and then. Started with $500 br and right away with a quad deuce and up to $762. Then a long slide downward...to busto. Holy Moly was not expecting that...so the vp gods finally get their revenge on me I was thinking.
But wait, I have time still and don’t feel like quitting. So took the remaining $500 on me and decided to do battle again. Down to around $400 i hit a quad deuce again and a few other things and up to $850. I thought maybe there is a chance of a positive outcome. Then another plunge...
at one point down to just $100 left of a $1k buy-in! Well, I thought, I was due for this. But alas the vp gods decided they didn’t want to be greedy and with a third and final quad deuce that was flopped on line c...plus some other hits, manage to cash out a total of $637...or a loss of -$363. It could of been better...but sure as heck could of been a lot worse!
Cheers!
