Re: COVID-19 Casino Impact
-there are unconfirmed reports that those ventilators are in nyc storage, not distributed. and, there were 4000 sent to nyc.
-there are multiple video clips, dating from early february thru mid march, where the nyc health com, the mayor and other elected nyc officials are encouraging residents to go to parades, festivals, movies, ride the subway, go to other crowded venues. deblasio did not want to close the schools.
-what republican run states have any close to the problems in ny, ca, wa, nj? answer....none.
-as stated previously, coumo announced today, that all areas/citizens do not need a stay at home mandate.
place the blame where it should be...china. in our lifetimes, we have never seen anything like this, china knew the facts and lied, the world was understandably unprepared and places with the densest populations are the most vulnerable. add to that, nyc/nys officials encouraged bad behavior and citizens (according to cuomo) did not heed the mandates. this is a recipe for disaster and that is what is happening in ny.
but, blaming trump? you are not thinking straight and letting the media, which hates trump, do your thinking for you.

Do you believe trump when he wants us to be open by Easter? I sure don't. It's comments like that that have ZERO scientific merit whatsoever that really piss me off. His blind followers will take this less seriously, the more he keeps saying this garbage. He has eschewed most experts' opinions so far. Fauci might be one he listens to the most. Better than nothing.notes1 wrote: ↑Thu Mar 26, 2020 9:52 pm-there are unconfirmed reports that those ventilators are in nyc storage, not distributed. and, there were 4000 sent to nyc.

So yes I blame him, as I think his response has been mostly slow and poor (except banning Chinese travel). I think most of the world's response has sucked in one way or another. Assuming their data is accurate, South Korea is the only significant "success" story, imo. And they aren't completely over this either, but they are "mostly" there.
I would like to save lives if possible. Especially after the economy has tanked already. Trump is more worried about the economy than lives imo.

i fully expect that parts of the country/population, WILL begin getting back to normal by easter. i would expect a slow transition. as far as it being without scientific merit, your statement is disputed by DR. BIRX, at the presser today.
i am no infectious disease expert, but the reported data confirms that those most vulnerable are older and with multiple underlying problems. these are the most likely to overwhelm the healthcare system. i believe the solution is to continue keeping these folks isolated at home, until therapies are developed. those who are less likely to have serious complications, can restart their lives. those who live in 'hot zones' will also need to stay hunkered down. dr. birx stated today that 40% of the country had fewer than 200 cases per zone. everyone will need to take precautions, wash hands, keep safe distance, etc.
you complain a lot. you don't like what trump has done. you find fault with cuomo and deblasio. we have already seen evidence that the scientific 'experts' have not always been right.
what would you do different?

Shut down European flights earlier. Test people for FREE with ANY possible symptoms (assuming we had enough tests to do so). We REALLY dropped the ball there too. Quarantine those people aggressively. Unfortunately South Korea would track people way more i think any American would stand for. So their methods would have been more difficult to implement.notes1 wrote: ↑Fri Mar 27, 2020 12:35 ami fully expect that parts of the country/population, WILL begin getting back to normal by easter. i would expect a slow transition. as far as it being without scientific merit, your statement is disputed by DR. Probably order shelter in place orders at least a week earlier than most have been called in the US. Why? Because when that date approaches, people in most states have panic bought aggressively. And thanks to our horrendous testing rate, I would bet in Chicago at least, there will be over 1000 offical cases where the actual place they caught it was at the grocery store while the panic was on to buy so much toilet paper (and other things).
Many zones that have less than 200 cases though are likely thanks to a piss poor testing rate. And possibly shouldn't be opened due to this. I would want a 90-95% negative test rate of 1000 people with cold/flu or Covid-19 symptoms to possibly stay open. The county I grew up in has 400 THOUSAND people. First case confirmed positive was 9 days ago on March 18th. At that point, how many tests had been performed on county residents, out of 400 thousand? ELEVEN. That's 0.00275%. That's a God damn disgrace right there.
Now that number is up to 63 (0.01575%). Still pretty pathetic for 400k. 24 positive/22 negative/17 pending. 1 death. A 50%+ positive rate is totally insufficient testing given the mild symptoms that many experience.

Illinois (where I'm at now) has 2531 positive cases (mainly in Chicagoland), but has also tested a much better 16,631 people. Yielding a more reasonable positive rate of 15.3%. I still rather it be lower, but it's much better than over 50%!

Stop blaming everything on Trump. People without jobs need hope and he's "Cheerleader in Charge". Any President would do the same thing. If you're a young family with three kids and no job, Easter sounds far away. If it wasn't for the Dems seeking millions for the Kennedy Center or the new Green Deal, they would have their checks by now.
So now that we're going to borrow trillions to fight this thing, Cuomo gets on TV and cries that NY needs money to replace lost revenue. What does he think the rest of America is supposed to do? The USS Comfort hospital ship will arrive in NY soon. Cuomo will probably cry that the ship is the wrong color. The thing that worries me more is that they haven't shut down the NY border. Many infected people will drive to Florida importing the problem here.
This is not the time to place blame. It's not a time for political grandstanding. If you want to really get scared, think where we would be now if Trump wasn't President when the virus hit.

Yes Vman I agree with you that there was a lot more trump could have done early on. Instead he gives himself a 10 and acts as if the country would not even exist if not for him. I have noticed every time he does one of these daily Covid19 briefings he tries to turn it into a political rally. Same talking points. We are going to build a wall. How he inherited a mess. Everyone else besides him is stupid. Unless of course they either like or agree with him. He may be stroking the third of the country that love him but he is pissing off the two thirds of the country off that does not like him.

According to Gallup, Trump's current approval rating is about 49%. He's only pissing off half the country. What pisses the Dems off is they having nothing to offer. All they have is a senile old man who does not know where he is half the time. If the Dems had a real candidate with real solutions, they wouldn't be in this position.seemoreroyals wrote: ↑Fri Mar 27, 2020 4:25 amHe may be stroking the third of the country that love him but he is pissing off the two thirds of the country off that does not like him.

Now is not the time to place blame? Lol Trump does it constantly for the last 3 years. He can't own up to any mistake he makes. He's flawless in his own mind. At least when I'm proven wrong, I can admit it.FloridaPhil wrote: ↑Fri Mar 27, 2020 3:49 amStop blaming everything on Trump. People without jobs need hope and he's "Cheerleader in Charge". And I definitely watch out Phil. All the drunken spring breakers spread it around because your governor didn't close the beach until the brunt of spring break was over.
Jon Bel Edwards and Louisiana are seeing the consequences of that now with respect to Mardi Gras.
And breaking news, Trump Jr. (Boris Johnson) has tested positive. Trump is pretty lucky he didn't given his contacts.

So FP, would you give trump a 10 so far in the way he had led the effort to control COVID19 and do you think we wouldn't even have a country without him?FloridaPhil wrote: ↑Fri Mar 27, 2020 4:30 amAccording to Gallup, Trump's current approval rating is about 49%. I believe he is doing what needs to be done. I believe we will all get this virus. Most people will recover. 30,000-50,000 people died of the flu last year. On my block, a man in his late seventies died of the flu recently. The problem with this virus is testing and treatment. A good friend of mine went to the hospital last night with symptoms. They tested him for the virus and told him it would take 3-5 days for the results. They sent him home and told him to self quarantine. His wife says he is doing better this morning. We need to take this thing seriously and stop panicking and looking for people to blame. This is a Chinese Flu, not Trump's flu.
I get it that some people don't like Trump. He is the elected President, so I will support him. There will be plenty of time to assign blame this fall. My problem with the Democrats is they aren't offering the American people anything except the removal of Trump. This is not going to win an election. Even a well known self made businessman who spent 5.6 million dollars a day couldn't make a dent against him.
Obama was elected because his people got excited about having the first black president. I liked Obama as a person. As a President, he was useless. Running an old white man who's only job was to hang around in case Obama died is not going to work. I believe Hillary is waiting to parachute down to the election and save the party. We've seen that movie before. Get used to Trump. He's not going anywhere.
