I wonder what makes this country so polarized. Not sure if it is still around 50/50 but I hope so. I attribute much of it to brainwashing by liberal teachers and professors who start even in Middle school if not before. That accounts for some of it. A bit more comes from those that follow the who’s diddling who crowd in Hollywood and probably don’t even know there are three branches of government. And three who also make up some of group number two are the gimme all that free stuff man.....sheeeet I don’t wanna work, just collect and do my street thing. Anyway, none of us are going to change each other’s minds no matter how eloquently we write and how many facts we know. Guess that’s what makes the world go round. Hope it doesn’t fly off its axis this time.

as widely reported today, trump was considering locking down certain areas of the country with the highest infection rates, including nys, to curb the spread. this is exactly what many liberals have been arguing for, including on this site. but, instead the left's new star, ny gov cuomo declared this would be a 'federal declaration of war'. obviously, he did not support the action trump was considering.

so again, trump is damned if he does and damned if he doesn't. the left just keeps complaining and whining, but they have no universal solutions, that are even acceptable to all of them.

why are you and many on the left so intent on defending china? the pandemic started there and they lied. such courage on your part, criticize your own country for something they inherited, trying to resolve and defend the country started it all. i guess that is your idea of a 'higher level of thinking'.

and, yes, if you picked your nose, it began a virus that killed/infirmed thousands in america, then allowed many of those disease carriers to travel abroad, not allowed any outside countries access to data about the disease or observe the situation, and lied about it all, then the usa would be responsible.

and, i will stop posting when i decide.
Has China lied? I do NOT disagree. But when people formulate their numbers on Chinese data...well...

Given our actions, numbers should be more formulated on ITALIAN data.

Considering I do NOT defend China's numbers because they likely lied. But I will defend South Korea's (right way) and be saddened at Italy's/Spain's (wrong way) numbers, I am still mostly done here until notes1 goes to the middle (even a trivial point).

Olds, notes. Stop it. Talk about anything else. No politics. No left this left that. I could write a dissertation undercutting both of your arguments but what would it accomplish. Both of your incessant ramblings are annoying as hell and serve no purpose. When you talk about other things for the most part they are rather interesting.

"Olds, notes. Stop it." ? "No politics." ? Who the hell does he think he is!!!
He could not write an intelligent meaningful dissertation on vman picking his nose.

The previous post is one of the most egotistical, twisted, displays of pure liberalism imaginable.

I am someone who thinks we need to leave politics out of it. We would all be better off. The best source of information for those who want to get a feel for going on would be to listen to Dr. Fauci. He is the one person above all the others I have the most respect from. He has the experience, has been around since Reagan, and knows what he is talking about

If you want a fact based projections into where we are with this pandemic I ran across a website covid19.healthdata.org/projections. They list every state and what to expect. In their opinion we are not going to peak out until the mid of April to 1st of May depending upon which State you live. They are projecting over 80,000 deaths in the US including more than 10,000 in New York, over 6,000 in Texas, and over 5,000 in California. It appears according to them that by June 1st up until July 1st the death toll will level out. So it looks like we have a minimum of 3 more months of this. But it is going to get worse before it gets better.

I am not getting involved in the choosing of sides, believing that solving the immediate problem is much more important than assigning blame. That said, I think the posters on this forum who are ready to "punish" China for creating the Coronavirus outbreak need to remember that China is one of the largest, if not the largest, holder of U.S. treasuries. If they decided to dump them at this very iffy economic time, I doubt if sufficient replacement buyers could be found. Obviously, the long-term solution is to, first, stop issuing our debt to ANY foreign entity, and second, stop incurring such debt altogether. Just the passage of the CARE Act on Friday is yet another example of the United States government displaying its very wonderful short term generosity and its very foolish long term recklessness. When, if ever, do we get out of debt? When my great-grandchildren are elderly? Before you paint this as a partisan rant, be aware that a Republican president and a Democratic speaker spearheaded this latest move toward pushing us into YET MORE NATIONAL DEBT!

SMR, you are either naive or unwillingly to face reality. when a significant portion of america hates trump and an even larger percentage of the media detests him, that bias is reflected in people's opinions and the news they are delivered. that, my friend , is called politics. to not include it in any discussion about trump, would be an injustice.

multiple surveys and studies have shown that as much as 90% of media coverage of trump, has been negative. one of every five newsroom employees live in/around nyc, l.a. and dc, all hotbeds of liberal thought. that is the left at work. they control much of that industry.

imagine that if obama had taken the precise actions that trump has done in relation to covid 19. think the coverage would be the same? sure!

so, you may not like my 'ramblings', but i could care less. you might not like politics being brought into the discussion or mention of the left's bias being injected into much of the news, that i am sure you read. but, to not mention it, would only be telling part of the story.

those who do not understand these realities are just kidding themselves.
