And the maid got to wear a "pink slip" instead of your jacket?

Tedlark, good one! If I wasn't so pissed off, I would have laughed because she looked so ridiculous. She probably would have taken it home with her, or maybe she was just cold
Elaborate a little please....So you go on up to the room you have checked out of, and it is being serviced by a maid, and the maid has on the "jacket" you forgot and left behind; OK, what is this jacket like, describe?

When you discovered the maid, what exactly did you do? Yell? Accuse? Simply say "that is my jacket?" Did you report her? If so, why? How can you be 100% sure she meant to take it home?

Here's why I ask....As a person who has left a couple things behind as well as dealt with retrieving a few of my mom's items over the years in AC, I know the standard procedure for cleaning maids who find basic items left in rooms is to place the item in a special drawer on their "cart" and then turn it in at their supervisor's when they finish the room. A jacket wouldn't necessarily fit in such a compartment, so perhaps to spare the jacket wrinkles and being soiled she simply wore it???? Obviously she wasn't planning on walking out of the hotel wearing it when her shift ended...

Okay, after DB's explanation I will give that maid the benefit of the doubt. Still a pathetic move on her part. Ah, humanity.

DaBurglar -

You know the maid wasn't planning on walking out of the hotel wearing the jacket when her shift ended, because? If the jacket DID NOT belong to the maid why would the maid be concerned about wrinkling the jacket by putting it into her "special compartment?" The jacket DID NOT belong to the maid so why did she put it on in the first place? If you re-read LovePlusone's post you'll see that a generous voucher was given to her to compensate her to have the jacket cleaned so any logical person would understand this to mean that she did report the maid.

DaBurglar offered no explanation; only theory.

Good for you, that's what a "good" person does, gives people the benefit of the doubt.

See, you are obviously smart enough to realize that stuffing the jacket into a drawer on a utility cart is not a great idea, nor is flopping it on top of the cart where it can get soiled. Obviously the maid was wearing it as the most convenient way to not forget it and to turn it in when she was done.

Also, ask yourself this FAA, why does a self proclaimed "good" person have such concern for you believing a "theory" about the better nature of people? What's the problem with that?

Answer: if anyone else besides me had posted that, TED wouldn't have said a word....

Doubling down:

I know the maid did not commit a crime, and theories are routinely accepted as "explanations".....

Again, truly "good" people find it very easy to accept and give the benefit of our better nature nor do they hold grudges (especially imaginary ones), nor do they allow their wounded pride to compel them to incessantly attempt to one up another person who wishes to be left alone but who, nonetheless, continues to embarrass said grudge holder...

I accept everyone at face value and give everyone the same benefit of doubt until I'm proven wrong.

And DaBurglar you are right; theories are routinely accepted as "explanations" but NOT UNTIL AFTER THOSE SAME THEORIES ARE PROVEN. Geez, how much DID you doze off in class???

As for imaginary grudges and wounded pride I offer this: over your span here you've called me everything from gay to being a Nazi, neither is true. But if it were, you'd have a VERY hard time sitting with a size 12 1/2 pink Jackboot up your arse.

My pride is too thick for you to wound. Would a Giant Sequoia be wounded by a single woodpecker? My pride being the Giant Sequoia and you being the pecker?
