Re: JUST IN FROM A C REPORT
I've been out of town Marie so I missed your post! A quarter royal (# 20 Marie) on deuces wild... Glad to hear all went well in the BIG EASY for you! That sounded like a fun trip! Congratulations on YET another royal, which keeps you WAY in the lead! I really should get out to casinos more often! Nothing good happened for us at Motor City today beyond a great comped buffet and hubby owes me more $.

Marie, I'm thinking about changing my name to acesmama because it might improve my bankroll if I could hit those a few times more often...royals are just too far between and that seems like the only 'bigger' hand that I hit...very few quads of any kind. No comparisons here....I'm not even close to what you have pulled in this year....I'm always rooting for you!
Actually faygo, my guess is that New Orleans is a bit rougher than AC...much higher crime rate since Katrina - even in the Quarter. Plus the service people are generally rude now and that did not use to be the case. I think after going down there for the past ten years that we might take a break next summer.
Come on Ed...not even comparable to southern cooking...fried alligator or oyster po' boy...nothing comes close plus they don't have Cafe D'monde with it's powder sugar coronary delights...(Right up oej's avenue!!!)

rfonlymama (AKA Acesmama), the last time I was in NO was pre-Katrina. Stayed at the Marriot across the street from what is now Harrahs. Greatest (?) cab ride I ever had. Picked us up at the Marriot. Put it in Gear, got to 30Mph and never slowed down from there to the Restuarant. This Bozo went through Red Lights, cut off two Buses making right turns in front of them and to add to this driving style , it was raining and his wipers didn't work.

New Orleans is almost like being in a foreign country without needing a passport. The culture, language, food, scenery, all make it unique. And of course Bourbon Street.
San Fransico, Seattle and New Orleans I think are cities in America that are very different and unique compared to most other large populated cities.
I did not know there was an OEJ avenue mama.

THAT was the very same cabbie we had in NYC, CHICAGO and VEGAS. 'Likes to pass on the express way shoulder, that one! He sure gets around, pun intended!

Hot survival tip for the day. NEVER suggest to a cab driver that you have a plane to catch or a funeral to attend. That would encourage him to exceed his personal best and rival a Cedar Point ride!

Acesonlymama; what little bit of culinary delights I was exposed to on my 2 trips to the crescent city, I thoroughly enjoyed. Po boys, muffalettas, chicory coffee with beignets at cafe du monde, seafood gumbo and 3 different jambalaya platters. Wasn't exposed to alligator so not in a position to say. My trips were also pre-Katrina so people and service were good and residents still showed respect to the authorities.
Marie; what the Sam Hill is wrong with a Cedar Point ride? Better to really experience it as opposed to sitting in a motion based simulator and say you rode it although I haven't tried the Simpsons ride at Universal yet.(rated #1 new attraction in the US)
