Was back at Harrah's last night and managed to get myself 2 nice hits on STP.  Seems like the only machine in the whole place that'll give me any love.  I'm just about done with Ultimate X.  Can't tell you how much I've poured into that machine.  So darn stingy with the 4 of a kinds.  Love the concept, just can't wait around for it to hit.

Anyway,  two hand pays in one night.  That's a new record for me.  Seems like my jackpots are in the low 2k range.  What's it gonna take for me to see a big one?  I'm playing half dollars...  Have to say, I was deep into the machine both times.  When the first hit came, there wasn't a bill in my wallet and I had managed to crank it up to 700+ on the machine playing quarters.  I then decided it was half dollar time, cashed out and moved over 2 machines, then whammo.  On the second hit, I had some dough, but was on a real grind.  I will say the machine was paying both times (different machines).  Where I play at Harrah's (in the smoking area) there are 4 machines in a row and for whatever reason I'm always playing the machines on the end of the row.  The two inner machines won't give a multiplier in three dozen spins.  I basically stay away from them.  The outside machines either eat you alive, or pay you nicely.  This time it was nicely.  To finish off the evening I turned 3 hundred into eleven hundred and went up to bed.  Now if had just stayed away from all the other games that took my $$$

I have to ask.  Would anyone have thrown away the FH trying for Quads?  I sometimes question this when playing DDB but my training tells me no.  Would have paid 750 if I did (and didn't hit any quads), or 1250 per quad.  Assuming I'd get 1 quad it would have paid 1925 or possibly more if it hit more quads.
WWYD?

Of course none of that was going through my head at the time.  I saw the 400 flash and said oh 4000 but forgot I was playing half dollars so I was thinking it was a 1000 pay.  I was a little shocked when it said call attendent and had to wait for it to say 2000 before I realized what I had done.  Didn't think about the quads until much later.

if aces full of 5 s or higher in ddb to draw 2 to catch 4 aces or aces full of 2,3,or 4 throw one card hope to catch an ace for 2000 credit aces with a kicker

WYD ... What you did.

You had a 10 out of 23.5 chance of hitting a quad.

Hard to throw away $2000! But you only get so many chances at that kind of win, right?

The mathematically best play is keeping the full house. And for 2,000 I think I'd have to stick with that. I'd feel awful if I threw it away and got nothing. Even if the math was slightly in favor of tossing it with a similar hand, I might keep it. That's a big win for 50 cents.
