-200. Rare night when I hit quad aces and at one time
up this session over a $100 dollars and find a way to lose my session
bankroll...but I did------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Unreal. Your session is a good reminder to all of us to consider quitting an hour earlier than planned when you're up. I mean, you're actually up so close to the time you're exiting anyway. Just get the hell out.

But if they get the bright idea of putting in .50 or $1 FPDW, let me know :)

Nice hits there! I think casinos are wise enough not to offer FPDW for anything above quarters. The king of FPDW in Vegas at Sam's Town scaled back on them big time earlier this year or late last year. I forgot which casino was rumored purposely cap the speed to a very slow rate, some places downgraded this to a nickel.

That debate will go until the end of time with vp, when should you stop playing lol in the beginning, I thought it was a no brainier, you quit when your ahead. Now I know it makes no difference whether your ahead or behind... As long as one keeps playing, it's one long stream of random number generations. Now I stop when 1. It's time to stop 2. I'm tired and making too many errors 3. A promo I'm playing for has ended or 4. Whatever goal for the day has been reached. Mostly with bonus poker, my goal is to play as fast and accurate as possible to earn cash back, staying even is fine with me, ahead is better. Last night was a bummer, but the day before won $200, so hopefully it's all going to even out plus the cash back. We will see. But whether up or down, if I'm feeling good and have the time and the session bankroll, I'll more than likely keep playing.
Cheers

Any tricks to suggest for folding when even? I can play for 4 hours+, be even from when I came in -- and that little voice refuses to let me walk. Oftentimes 'til it's all gone. It's a major struggle for me.

It's a struggle for most of us, I'll give you some advice that was given to me. When you go to the casino only take in half of the money you came with, leave the rest in your car, sometimes the walk out will bring you to your senses. I say "sometimes" because more than once I've went back out to get more money. Some other advice, never carry any form of card that allows you to get money, never set up a line of credit or the ability to cash a check, the casinos know how weak most of us are and love to take advantage of that. I wished I could learn to follow my own advice but you really can lose control at times.
I wished I could learn to follow my own advice but you really can lose control at times.
I think this is the hardest obstacle video poker players have to overcome and I struggle with this myself.  Winning is a real drug that your brain likes and you can never get enough.  My problem is I've had some great luck in the last year with $5 machine pot shots and they keep calling to me when I try to walk out.  I use a couple of solutions to combat the urge.  I take as little money as possible into the casino.  For me this is about 1000 coins.  I never go into the casino with an ATM card (poison!).   It also helps if your wife or someone you trust is with you and can hold your winning tickets.   Tell them before you go in that you don't want them to give you your money until you get home.  I tried the car trick a few times, but it didn't work that well.  The only way I have been able to keep my gambling expenses within reason is to get used to playing very small denominations single coin.  This worked for me, but it wasn't easy to get to that place.  It helps if you hate losing as much as I do.  People who say losing doesn't affect them are heading for eventual bankruptcy.

-$140. Cash back=$18. .25c single line bonus poker. Hit 4 aces on one of my last spins, then quickly went down again. Only had about 90 minutes to play today. Started with my usual $200, exited with $60 and a few free drinks. Hopefully will start running better sooner rather than later.
Cheers

I know how it feels to leave with 30% of what you brought in. Just a brutal ride home. Like Phil says, hold it to a 50% loss if the day is a loser.

Figuring out a way to hold down your loses is the secret to happy recreational play.   If you don't you will eventually start blaming rigged machines, casinos, bad buttons and who knows what else for your troubles.  There are as many ways to do this as there are players.... shorter sessions, lower denominations, less volatile games, slower play or whatever works for you.  My way works for me because it's as cheap as it gets and still gives me a chance at a decent jackpot, but it's not authorized by the great video poker God in Las Vegas.

.50/$1 8/5 BP...-1k, cash back $97. The decision to go to bonus poker may not have been a wise one. Although early into it,
Already gave most of what I won thru Sep on 10/6 ddb. To Make matters worse, the BP machine makes changing denominations easy and found myself going from .25 to .50 to $1 chasing the losses. Something one never should do and I never did on 10/6 ddb because it's a flat .25c machine...
On a night I should of lost 200, ended up losing a grand chasing the 200. A great lesson to Be learned and it seems once in awhile I relearn it.
At any rate, going to make the switch back to .25c 10/6 ddb after my wounds heal from tonight.
Cheers
