according to an article in THE ECONOMIST, along with numerous other articles, it appears, smokers are less likely to get the chinese virus.

i had heard this weeks ago, but because anyone who smokes is treated the same as a child molester, the media, to no one's surprise, did not publish this info.

remember, NO story is going to get coverage, unless it fits someone's narrative. and, smokers, the scourge of the world, have no advocates.

Absolutely wrong, at least in the US. https://www.ucsf.edu/news/2020/05/41741 ... rogression

Another study looked at mortality and severity of the disease as it relates to smokers vs non-smokers. https://medicalxpress.com/news/2020-05- ... ality.html

Thanks for the links. As i stated previously it was hard to believe articles that claimed the opposite.

I read those articles as well. Anything is possible but there really haven't been detailed studies. I'll go with the overwhelming scientific evidence that smoking kills. Even the most deadly drugs and venoms can be beneficial in certain cases so the same may be true with nicotine. Whether nicotine in other forms may mitigate Covid 19 is another matter and needs to be studied further.

i did NOT say smoking was good for anyone. i just pointed out info that seemed interesting. is it not possible that smokers have developed something that protects them from the virus?

no doubt that smoking is bad for folks, but it is not the root of all evil. and, smokers need not be ostracized, as long as they do there habit where it is allowed only.

Personally, I would prefer that the habit be allowed in a lot less places than at present.

Still see no casinos broaching the subject of smokers.

With the mask requirement and the possibility of moist smoke particles carrying the virus surely they cannot simply ignore the threat.
Did i really SAY that! Damn cabin fever is getting serious now.
