Valet sounds really good.  I don't want to have to walk too far to the car or drive around a garage too much. Going into the front door of a hotel is a much nicer experience and it seems worth $5 for all that.

I am always amazed at the people that self park, haul their luggage, and then go blow $1000s in the casino. Last trip to AC. the people in the Diamond line, 4 kids in tow, about six bags and had walked from the parking lot. Go Figure.

I had an Uncle that told me long time ago "It doesn't cost that much more to go first class".

Just a couple of comments.

I don't think that Plaza is free parking any longer.

And, when you "cross" Las Vegas Blvd on Paradise, if you go straight, you'll end up on Main Street which goes right in front of Plaza and the end of Fremont St.  You can get pretty easily to Golden Nugget parking from Main Street.  Just a little East of Main.

Yup.  That is at that funky three way intersection isn't it?  By the way, we found out the hard way that the parking at The Plaza is still free.  We stayed there during New Years and there was no parking available because of this feature.  Therefore we were stuck because we did not want to lose our spot.

An interesting aside to this post.  We parked next to the same car(by accident) that we parked next to in September of last year. The reason that I was sure that it was the same car is that it had the same (Notice to Move) sticker on it that I had noticed on the previous visit.  The only change was an (Extension Notice) for after the New Year that was posted right next to the original one.  Now that is parking control!!

That would never happen in Cally.  They tow your car for any reason here!  One more thing.  As we walked away from the car to check in at the Plaza I mentioned to my wife that it would be nice if our luck was the same since our spot was the same.  Last time at The Plaza we did quite well.  Needless to say that was not the case... Figures!

I've never parked at Plaza unless we were staying there.  They must be doing their part for the unemployment situation!  They made us show our parking permit every time we left the parking lot when we were there.  Maybe they just charge the guests <LOL>   That's good to know though CLWN2.  The Plaza is one of the easiest to get to parking garages close to Fremont.I do remember parking in the garage at MSS once.  Lost my car!  I was so "legless" I couldn't remember what car we'd rented nor could I remember what level we were on.  I spent thirty minutes trying to find the car that was "beeping" and was stone cold sober by the time I found it!

Yeah, that $60 to get onto Fremont was to cover for the name bands playing.  I think Doobie Bros was performing with some others.  Lots of "special things" going on there.I heard that if you didn't want to participate in the "street activities" and just wanted to gamble, you had to have Security escort you from casino to casino to insure that you didn't enjoy the festivities taking place <LOL>

I may have known your uncle.  My first trip to Vegas was by stagecoach.  The Strip didn't look as pretty since the casinos only had gaslights.

[/QUOTE]Though I've made that trip by motorcycle, I can't imagine crossing the Divide by stagecoach <LOL>  It took they 20 minutes to pry me off the saddle with a crowbar after that ride!  Talk about "pucker factor!"

2 days until I go. I need to get practicing! (Although the airport and plane ride are good for this with a laptop too).

So, to sum up my goals for this trip:
1) Place in the video poker tournament. Winning would be nice, any cash back position will do. I'm going to play it high risk going for a top position though, so I will probably either completely tank or have a shot at it.
2) Win back the $500 I lost last trip.
3) Win some cash and comps (I'll say another $500 as a target for now)
4) Experience more of the strip hotels and casinos

I'm going to play some more deuces to get warmed up and when I want to get extended play time in, but I will also play some 9/6 Jacks or Better in that time and then some Bonus games to up the ante this time for shorter sessions.
