Vegas 7Star Trip

Post by BillyJoe »

Back from a week in Vegas. The event was nice. Saw "Lady Antebellum" at Caesars - they are great. A couple of nice VP wins - the first pic was on my last day, a progressive at PH for $6840 (the progressive for a dealt RF on all three lines was over $112k) , the second pic was at the start of the trip for $5k at Paris....

Can you beleive that they wouldn't throw in a Planet Hollywood hat with that progressive win?

I have been to several 7Star Signature Events over the last couple of years, and this one in Vegas was the "leanest" in terms of events and goodies. Maybe the economy is getting too tough. And don't tell me about living far from a Harrah's property - I live in Florida .

Don't worry, Doris. The wife gave a lot of that back.

Nice hits Billyjoe. What were the pay tables on those games? I was Harrah's Seven Stars in 2008 and 2009, dropped down to Diamond this year. The pay tables on the video poker were just so poor it was becoming too expensive to maintain Seven Stars. Plus, as you hit on the head, the comps just were becoming lean. I really felt that I received close to equal treatment as a Diamond player as I did as a Seven Stars player. I have a funny story about this:

In June of 2008 I'm playing at Harrahs in Lake Tahoe at about 1:00am on a week night. I was playing ugly deuces (15/9) on a 10-play dollar machine ($50/deal). I had been playing this bank for the past few days and was getting treated very well during that stay from my host, Andrea McNulty (the Big Ben girl, lol). Good meals, spas, free play, etc, all on top of the total rewards comps I was building up. There is no doubt in my mind that at that time of the night, I was the biggest player on the casino floor. Here's where it gets funny. Some drunk guy walks up and starts playing on the bank of machines right behind me which are like single line quarters and dollars. We're the only two players in the area. He keeps changing machines and he keeps calling over the slot attendant to open the machines to adjust the volume. He's loud, obnoxious, smoking like a chimney, etc. He leaves to go to the bathroom and comes back and starts accusing someone of stealing his cigarettes. So a young casino worker, probably an assistant slot attendant starts to stay with him attending to his needs, getting drinks, keeping an eye on his cigarettes, etc. This player leaves again to go to the bathroom and I say to this young casino worker: that guy is really annoying, why are you giving him so much attention? The young casino worker says that this guy is one of their "Diamond players" and that the floor supervisor said to help him and give him anything he wants. So I ask him to call his floor supervisor because I'd like to speak with him. The floor supervisor came over and I told him that I was being annoyed by this player and that I've been playing at a rate of over $30,000/hour through these machines for the past few days, I'm a Seven Stars player and I want that guy removed from my area. The floor supervisor tells me that the casino views all Diamond and Seven Stars players at the same level and that I couldn't receive any preferential treatment over the annoying drunk. So I left. My host called me the next day to find out why I wasn't playing. I told her the story. Needless to say, the hosts have more horsepower than floor supervisors when it comes to the players and they gave me $5000 in reel rewards to come back. I played it through once, went across the street to The Horizon and haven't stepped foot in Harrahs/Harveys Lake Tahoe since.

I still play enough through Harrahs to maintain Diamond. My wife likes staying in the middle of the strip for shopping, so the free rooms at Caesars, Paris, etc are really good for this. But due to the crappy pay tables, the shoddy treatment, and the leaned comps I've been doing most of my play at places like Red Rock, The Palms, and even Casino Royale. The pay tables are much better and the comps through Red Rock (Stations) especially are great.
