video poker at Mohegan Sun
Last week, Mohegan Sun discontinued awarding players points on ALL of their video poker games, in all denominations. In addition, they removed the most popular game, Super Double Double from all their games as well.I have no idea what prompted such a drastic move on their part. I did contact my host who claimed she knew nothing about it, but was going to get back to me once she inquired with upper management.Without being compensated for your play, no one should be playing these machines.Players BEWARE!

Im sorry if im not getting this 100%, but compensated for your play? Wouldnt that come in the form of winning? Ive always thought of the points programs as a way to get people to play a lot more than they set out to, and after a while (and im as much a victim as anyone) I find myself addicted to points accumulation even more than to playing the card game.

Theres probably more. It is odd however to have such a big casino stop giving points for vp. It would be nice to read a story about it and the thinking behind doing so.

Not ALL the machines, just the decent ones.

Man & Wife love video poker:
We have gone to Mohegan since October 1996 when it opened to play video poker and have many a great deal of points for comps but yet never had a winning year end. We have spent thousands of dollars every year and not had a winning year. We have made some great hits but again never been ahead. Last week when we were there for 2 days we played a ton and were told we would not get any more points for play. We are completely done going to Mohegan sun until they restore the points. They told us all of Atlantic City and Foxwoods have done the same B!S! We are not going back.

I checked out this no points awarded issue with upper management myself. It affects as of now 200 plus VP machines and appears to be limited to 99% plus return machines. I did find some 99.1 % machines ( 50 Cent) that at last check were still awarding points. The bonus poker is still 8/5, but the quarter bonus 8/5 machines in the Hall of Lost Tribes area were lowered to 6/5. My one favorite machine/game of 16/10 Deuces Wild at the 10 cent level was removed and replaced by a much less generous Bonus Deuces game down around 96%. This was a spin poker game that started at the 3 cent level and I think very few players knew that at the 10 cent level there was that 16/10 Deuces game. Many many pay tables have been lowered throughout the casino and if you do find a Jacks or Better machine at the quarter level paying 9/6, it will have the dreaded no points sticker. I have already shifted some of my business to Foxwoods because of this, but most of their machines are no bargain either. Not long ago Mohegan took out the extremely popular 2 cent machines that let you play up to 100 units. So many people complained about this that they put some back in but with even worse pay tables than before. You will find them in the Hall of Lost tribes. Many of the regulars have now cleared out. I don't think the casino took into account or cared that player fatigue, sticky buttons, mistakes, and poor vp knowledge further increases casino returns on these 99% machines. I am still complaining to management, but am afraid they will wait for the results of player action over the next few months to determine if this was a good move for them. My opinion for whatever it is worth is that this was a very bad move for business!

I have a posting up from a few days ago about Mohegan taking away the points on poker machines. I just heard back from my slot host and he said for all of us to write a letter to Jeffrey Hartmann who is the CEO and he told me that he will read the letter and respond back. (I can hardly wait to see if he responds) Anyway I did send off a letter today and will wait to see what happens. Everyone concerned please write to him and complain. Jeffrey Hartmann c/o Mohegan Sun, 1 Mohegan Sun Blvd. Uncasville, CT. 06382-1355.

Mohegan Sun also seems to have dumped the Kings or Better Joker Poker games. They all now seem be the ones where the min payoff is 3 of a Kind (4000 points for 5 of a Kind).
