Most recent Harrah's jackpots

Post by roveer »

Another decent session at Harrah's last night.  Lots of 700-900 hits as well.  Funny how each visit is different somehow.  Somewhere around 3am an asian lady approached me and aske if she should "buy" a cigarette.  I never take money for a butt, but offer it happily.  2 minutes later I hit the royal.  That's the good karma at work.  Still wondering when I'm going to get a dealt royal.  Maybe I have to have LL rub my head for some of that kind of luck.
I also had my 2nd favorite thing happen last night.  I start with 1,000 in the machine and after a few good hits (non jackpots) I was up to 2,800 and then once I surpass 3,000 the machine spits out tickets.  Twice it spit out 400+ and one time it spit 900.  I love it when that happens.  Only problem is that sometimes you end up chasing it when you should really get away when it's not hitting.I've started to closely track my play, bankroll, comps, win/loss and will continue to hone my play based on what I learn.  For example, this morning I almost sat down for some morning play, but I was rushed to get on the road and that usually spells disaster.  A thousand bucks can dissapear in minutes when you are in a hurry.  So today, I passed right on by and hit the road.

Drawn to this game like a moth to a flame.  At least now I know once I hit something I take the money and run.  Way to streaky to play long term.  If only I had a kicker!!!

This one was a total surprise.  Don't think I've ever done that before...

Nice hits roveer, I too always enjoy drooling over the pictures that you post. One suggestion I would like to offer though stems from one of the above pictures, the one in which you were dealt the quad 7's. I would hold all 5 cards as the hand cannot be improved and you lessen the chance of a machine malfunction. I know some of the naysayers will say that the odds of a machine malfunction are low but always err on the side of caution when it comes to getting a nice $1,250.00 payout instead of a possible malfunction. Congrats again.

Ted, I've seen the comment about machine malfunction as the reason for holding all 5 cards on quads several times.  But I've never heard the logic that supports this.  Evidently, someone must have had experience with this malfunction for this advice to be widespread. What is it that makes a machine more likely to malfunction with a hold of 5 cards than a hold of 4 cards?  Just wondering.Anyone besides Ted that has some insight or opinions is welcomed to chime in.Oh, by the way.  Terrific hits, as usual, roveer!

>>What is it that makes a machine more likely to malfunction with a hold of 5 cards than a hold of 4 cards?<<I held all five cards on a diamond flush once and it discarded 2 of the diamonds when I hit the draw button. Summoned a floor person who had a tech look at the recently played hands, and sure enough, there was my held flush. They gave me the payout plus a $25 voucher for anything.

Sorry, Ted.  After reading mammajamma's response, I meant "less likely" in my previous post, not "more likely."  Hopefully that's clear by the context.I would have edited my earlier post to make it correct, but given mj's response, I thought it would be less confusing to add this extra post than to make the change.(or should that be...MORE confusing?  )mammajamma, your example suggests what I would think absent others' opinions.  That is, that there is no relationship between machine malfunctions and the number of cards held.  But maybe there is some evidence to the contrary.Other stories?  (By the way, I'm glad the malfunction didn't cost you any money!)

Yep, I understood the scenario.........was just citing  an event that happened to me when I held a pat hand. I guess a malfunction can happen anytime.

Roveer- I am intrigued by your threads.   Fantastic hits.  Very nice.  It would be really interesting to know what your profits have been over the past few months.   I just started playing VP over the last 5 weeks.  $1 denom - single line play.  I basically feed $100 bills until I get what i am after - a jackpot of some sort I am estimating that I am up around 10k over the past 5 weeks.   I am without a doubt hooked in a big way.   Thankfully I am preoccupied with other things so that my trips to the casino are a treat.   If I was less busy, I expect I might be playing too much and start losing.   Anyway... seeing your big hits and knowing you are playing much more per hand than myself....  I am really curious just how much you are up over the last few months... winnings minus risk?   None of my business..,. but again, I am amazed at how well I have been doing at the single line games and am considering playing multi lines like you have been.

Needless to say I have had a good run of winning sessions lately.  I wasn't keeping good records until the last 2 trips, but now I am.  As many will tell you, all those great hits and their W2G's costs lots of cash, and I've come to grips with the fact that at times the payback is a lot smaller than you would expect.  I spent a lot of time (and money) this year honing my game and working on money management, timing, and most importantly, when to stop.  These improvements and continual practice at my chosen game seem to have made a positive difference.  While nothing can stop a bad run, I am doing everything I can to make sure I am playing and operating optimially to give me the best chances of coming away with more than I started.  I'm still trying to get my head around the idea that between January and September of this year I have playinged 1,114,000.00 into Video poker machines at 60 dollars (or less) a clip.  That's a LOT of video poker.  Don't get me wrong, I'm reading some of Bob Dancers newsletters where he talks about 2 million dollar sessions (not years).  Of course he's playing 100-500 dollar hands.
