Its tax time guess the W2G
A buddy of mine that plays with me were discussing our W2G since its tax time. And I have a pretty good idea how many hands of poker I played last year because I keep pretty good records for each trip. But he doesn't log anything, however he has $640K in W2G and we were trying to calculate how many hands he played last year. He plays 95% $1 single line, every now and then he will play $2 but rarely. His game of choice is 9/6 DDB with a sprinkle of 9/7 TDB and 8/5 Super Aces.
I told him about the math geniuses on this site and that I would ask if anyone had a clue.

Not sure how the W2G total will equate to hands played. He should only be getting a W2G for wins of $1200 or greater, so all those smaller wins would not be in that total.

Holy moley! Congrats to him on his win, but the taxes on that (20% or more = at least $130k) are going to be a KILLER!
I hope he kept records of his gambling activity, but he will probably get a call from the tax man looking for their share. They are sure to question him if he tries to negate that big win total with offsetting losses that high.

I still see peeps being confused about that $1200 or greater W2G criteria. That $1200 only refers to a ONE jackpot hand. It would be possible for an addict to have i.e. $5K of wins in a machine and still not receive a W2G if the wins were accumulated by hands of under $1200. However, it is possible that a machine would begin spitting out a TITO (ticket in ticket out) before it accumulates $5K in wins. I have had a TITO appear without hitting cash out.

Im no new2vp with the calculator, but I dont believe anyone who says they got SIX HUNDRED FORTY THOUSAND DOLLARS WORTH OF W2GS in one calendar year playing dollar single line vp. Im calling BS all the way. Thats either 160 royals, 320 awaks, or some unreal combo of both. Let me also guess, this guy is a big loser, and he has a gambling problem.

MARK THIS DATE ON YOUR CALENDER!
I actually agree with "bs-er" here. No way someone playing single line dollars has that much in W2Gs. But we've known that figures thrown at us by "spx" have not always been the most accurate at times.

lol I still find it surprising how everyone is always surprised with these numbers. I guess most people on here play .25 and .05 a few times a year. Now you can understand how we are able to see changes in the VP world. There are 3 of us that play alot. Now I'm not at the level as friend A here because I live 45 min away so can only go 2 times a week. But friend A lives right around the corner from 5 casinos and plays everyday. It's nothing for him to get 10-12k in w2g per session. Sometimes more or less. I know of at least 3 nights that i was there he got 17k, 18k and 20k in wg2. Thats 56k in only 3 nights. There aren't many times when we all don't get at least 2 or 3 wg2 per trip. When your playing 1,200 hands an hour and play 8-10 sessions its not hard. Minus me taking a photo of them all and posting it lets just pretend like I'm not lying "again" and see if we can figure it out for him.
Eta. The only thing I may be off on is his tdb play. It may be higher I'll have to ask but I know he loves ddb and super aces.

$640K playing $1 denomination seems a bit hard to believe but I did meet a lady that had over $250K in W2G's playing $1 denom only, she said she played about 5 days a week and wasn't ashamed to admit she lost quite a bit of money. I play $2 denom most of the time with some $5 mixed in, I get my share of W2G's but the machines always end up getting the best of me. Going bt the type of play I get in these parts I don't see how anyone could afford to get $640K in W2G's, fact is in these parts video poker ain't a cheap game to play.

Theoretically, he should get around $9K worth of W2Gs for every 40K hands. That would come out to around 7.8 million hands. Nope, does not compute on single line. If he played all $2 that would still be almost 4 million hands..
I'd be more willing to believe $64K worth of W2Gs.

All spx did in his response is serve up more BS trying to justify the impossible and trying to impress puny players like me with how much he and that guy play. If he believes his friend then hes super gullible. Im a dollar player and I couldnt afford the batteries in my chair if I played that much.
Phooey!
