Distressing CET VP Stories
I'm copying and pasting from the AC Trip Advisory thread:It has now been reported on an A.C. video poker-related forum that the
9/6 machines in the triangle on the main floor now have stickers on them
indicating that it will take $50 coin-in to earn one tier point; and
another forum has a comment posted that it takes $25 coin-in on the
Diamond Cove machines & $50 coin-in everywhere else. It requires $50:1 tier pt. on quarters. The $1 and up machines are $25:1 tier pt.. $25:1 is the standard at all properties in Las Vegas
on 9/6 JOB. There are not many 9/6 JOB in Harrah's properties in Las
Vegas. They are $5 denomination and higher. Atlantic City is inline with
the rest of the country. I was surprised that Atlantic City lasted this
long as Las Vegas changed their machines months ago.

At least you get some points. At Mohegan Sun in CT, you get zero points. Gone are the good old days

This is what the CET website says about earning credits. It was just updated 11/04/2013...
To earn Reward Credits, use your Total Rewards card the entire time you play at any Total Rewards location. You will earn 1 Tier Credit for each $5 you play on reel machines and $10 for video poker.
At any Caesars Entertainment property, you earn one Reward Credit for every one Tier Credit while playing.

Except when a machine clearly tells you that you don't (Las Vegas, Hammond, Windsor, Atlantic City).
Should they add an asterisk to the website, probably. Will they? Meh.

As of Oct 1, at Mohegan Sun, you will now earn tier or what they call status points on those no points machines. That is some bit of good news since under the old system, there was no way I could maintain level 3 status. You don't earn points that you can spend on those no points machines however and the downside is that they require anywhere from 300 to 470 dollars cycled through to earn 1 status point. Also level 3 requires 1400 status points in a 6 month period to maintain level 3. No easy feat and very expensive based on how tight these machines have been. The bottom line is cycle through over 500k in their 6 month period and you can maintain level 3 or what they now call Ascend status.

I just got back from another week long trip to AC: At Caesars, the 9/6 25 cent JOB Progressive still earns you one tier point for each 10 bucks coin in, and showboats bank of 8 machines that offers 9/6 JOB (as well as 8/5 BP, 9/7 DB, 9/6 DDB and a really good Double Joker paytable) still earns you 1 tier point for each 10 dollars coin in.....the showboat bank of 8 machines allows you to play at 25 cent, 50 cent or 1 dollar. Didnt go in Ballys so I cannot verify anything.... But, alas, it does not matter, since AC video poker is simply another form of slots and casinos in AC have the option of setting their VP to return far less than what the paytable(s) state or imply, all the way down to the lowest slot return allowed by law. This past year has been the worst ever in my life, so abysmal that even if I had not had any confirmation from the Gaming Authority people, I would still KNOW that VP in AC is not what it used to be, not even close. If I posted my numbers in AC since January of this year NO ONE would believe them, so I will not......but I do offer this: Since I am entered in a few upcoming real POKER tournaments at Borgata and elsewhere in AC in the upcoming months, I will galdly meet with ANYONE from this forum and take them to the players cubs in any AC casino I have played and lost in this year, and I will have the staff printout my results for VP to PROVE what I am saying. I am 100% serious, so if interested, just say so here and I will arrange to meet you. The casinos I have been clobbered at are AC Club, Taj Mahal, Resorts and Caesars. Taj is especially horrible followed by AC CLUB. A number of family and friends who play in AC have had similar results as me, and we all play roughly the same games at the same level (25 cents). Some AC casinos, like Borgata, maybe Harrahs, possibly Showboat, who are not in desperation mode and who are run by good managment, have not "slottified" all their VP machines to pay abysmal slot-like returns. Borgata for sure keeps thei VP machines at VP levels, meaning the paytable is the final word. Resorts is a real diabolical organization, however: they have a ton of seemingly "good" games, 8/5 BP (99.3%) but when you play them you quickly see that something is really wrong, as your bankroll evaporates from all the long stretches of duds (zero value hands) And I could not verify on this last trip but I am almost certain AC club and Resorts have slowed down the point/comp meter on their VP machines too, so you earn less. In four plus years, I have never hit a Royal, or had any type of significant win at either Taj Mahal and Ac Club.

DaBurglar yoou mention that you have had confirmation from the "Gaming Authority People", what did they confirm?
Edited to add: You also say that Harrahs is well run but in a post here on a different forum topic you slam Harrahs, which is it?
I don't want to argue but I'm just looking for clarification.

If I was constantly getting those results I would play somewhere else. You also may want to take a long break and maybe your streak of ruin will end....or find somewhere to play where you have some kind of confidence you are at least able to play correctly and have odds. Having verified what you think I wonder if you are not a little crazy even to play there.

I have written before of my experiences with the Gaming commission, the building in AC is located on Tennessee Avenue (although the entrance is somewhat hidden, seemingly by design, lol.) But you can go in there during business hours and it is usually staffed by two or three people, one of whom is typically a bonafide gaming agent. They have answered most of my questions about AC gaming regs and policies, but there is one big hole in their info and that is what EACH individual casino is doing at any given moment. They used to know exactly what every casino was doing and what they had in place in terms of machines and payback, but since 2009 the NJ gaming commission pulled out all its agents from the casinos in massive layoffs, and moved its enforcement into the State police and NJ Bureau of investigation...... But they did confirm (including one of their gaming lawyers named "LON" who they got on the phone for me after I tried unsuccessfully several times to contact on the phone) that NJ gaming regs DO INDEED classify Video Poker as simply another version of SLOT machine. They also confirmed that casinos are allowed to set their slot machines at any payback level they want as long as it is conforms to the limit (83%). I asked point blank: "Does this mean that I may be playing VIDEO POKER machines that payback LOWER than they typical 97-98% that most paytables seem to offer?" Their reply, "YES IT IS POSSIBLE". They then qualify their remarks of course, saying some casinos may still choose to leave VP alone and simply lower the paytables to really low levels and play with that, others are choosing to simply GET rid of video poker altogether. Everything they told me made sense and conformed to what I had experienced and seen in the actual casinos. Go there yourselves and do your own homework and research, you will learn alot. I also spent lots of time picking the brains of employees of the various casinos, including a few managment/executive types (the Trump guys really love to blab since their company is in such a state of turmoil.) But the bottom line is this: When I play VP in AC, and compare it to everywhere else I play or have played, the results are STARK and clearly indicative of something different going on..... edited to add: Harrahs the Property is run fairly well in comparison to all the others in AC, but some of the same problems still rear their ugly head. Harrahs Corporation (Caesars Entertainment) Is drowning in debt so I would surmise most of Harrahs the Proerty issues stem from its corporate Ogre causing problems, much like a lot of corporations in their Ivory Towers cause for their employees in the real world.
