Days like this keep us coming back
Yesterday at Mohegan reminds me of the recent DB AC trip. Will try and keep it short.
1. Fifteen minutes into playing on the 3 cent spin poker machine Bonus Deuces Wild, I caught Royals on 2 lines.
2. Ten minutes later on the same machine I caught Deuces Quads on 12 lines. None with kickers though.
3. An hour later playing one of the new IGT machines on ten cent spin poker Deuces Wild I caught Royals on 2 lines and I had ten dimes bet on each line. That was a hand pay.
4. Two hours later after a short break for dinner, I caught a Wild Royal on quarter Double Down Stud. Only a couple of coins in on that one.
5. Just before going home the next morning, and playing Florida Phil's one coin quarters on a quarter Deuces Wild machine, I caught Deuces quads after a couple of good hits on quarters and switched to dollars just like Phil would have done. Had a 5 buck bet on that one.
The best part is everything went home this time instead of giving it all back to them.
I have to give credit to the Mrs. though who was working hard in a hot school room getting things ready for next week. After her third call on the cell...." car 54 where are you"..I figured I better pack it in at that point. Good thing too. I barely beat rush hour traffic.

Very nice, Olds. Plus, a good casino exit strategy.

I just now read this......awesome day olds! Good job too in leaving before you could end up giving any back, and good that you beat "rush hour"......I do not know if you spend more time on the I-91 or the I-84, so I do not know what rush hour hell you actually face, but BOTH really suck this time of year! I do not know anything useful about Mohegan or Foxwoods these days regarding video poker since I rarely get to either place........can you tell me if either place has progressive VP jackpots these days? Also, have you seen either Ultimate 4 of a kind or Dreamcard at either place? Thanks.

Hi DB. The short answer is yes, but I will have to make another visit to get exact locations. The reason I don't know is I don't play those games. I have seen them though. I think they are in the Old Poker Room which Mohegan calls the Mike section. There are 3 marble stairs for access, but they have a carpeted ramp going up there. It is a bit steep, but you sound like you are in good shape to handle it. If not, any employee will assist you. The traffic I was referring to is I95. By far, the worst of the 3 most of the time, though 84 up your way can be a pain too.
Here is something I think you will like though. In the above Old Poker Room I mentioned above is a row of Old IGT slant top machines that have been outfitted with new guts. If you play one of the many spin poker games in the menu, you will find at least for now that the Royal pays 800 for just 1 nickel bet. The game has a quarter option too. I usually play deuces wild, but there are many games there. There is also a tripple play spin poker option in the menu with that 800 for 1 option. On the other side of this bank of machines I think are the games you are reverring to though the progressives are in another part of that room. Just a little warning. It is very smokey in there. That room has a low ceiling and the smoke drifts sideways. I try to play there in the middle of the night when it isn't as bad. If you are coming up in the near future, let me know so we can hook up. My schedule is pretty flexible depending how my folks are doing at any given moment. I have said it before, but I am so lucky to still have them. I will try and get back to you with more detail on the progressives and dream card locations. Finally, in that same room is a quarter All Star machine (the great one pointed out to me) up against the wall on the left as you come in that has the 800 for 1 option for 1 quarter bet on any of the spin poker games. Wish vman and his gf could come up here and play some of these machines before they yank that option. Sounds like they are right up his alley. For that matter any vp.comers would like this option while they still offer it. Final heads up. Paytables are in the 95-97 percent range on all of those spin games, but I am seeing more and more that paytables in the short run don't matter that much. My best hits have been on the poor paytable machines with very few hand pays on the 99% games especially since summer of 2010.

Yes, it is very "ironical" that some of MY biggest hits lately have come on absolutely crappy paytables, but I have not posted about this because it is still more evidence in my mind that AC video poker is warped.Let's put it this way.....I was experiencing all those horrific results ONLY playing the 99% - 99.5% games in AC, and none of them were really paying. Once I ceased all conscious effort to only play the best paytables, and once I stopped being anal retentive about tracking my play and stats, things actually improved markedly.Of course, it is only a happy coincidence, but still......"Ironical".....Anyone know what movie the "word" IRONICAL is from???Anyway olds, I will let you know when I hit the two Native American monstrosities down in your nape of the neck......neck of the nape.....woodsy abode.....etc.I totally forgot about the I-95 freeway, I am only familiar with I-91 and I-84, but since I dont drive and instead get driven around in my handivan burglar mobile, it is not crucial that I recognize what freeway I happen to be on! Especially in southeastern Connecticut!
