JUMP IN AND JOIN THE "RNG" PARTY

Post by Raner »

I, edited the original post to simplify a question...
Sorry guys, but some of the first 13 post replies are not going to make to much sense now...
The other day I was practicing my DDB strategy on this site...
I hit the deal button and hit a dealt heart royal, it was pretty to watch even though my wallet did not
get any fatter. It was almost a sequential royal the K and the A were out of wack...
So, it got me to thinking.
How exactly does a video poker machine work.
Here is the hand combinations total for DDB...

Does anyone know the answer...

How does this belong in the Strategy forum?
Why didn't you post it in the Voodoo section ?

Or you could just randomly select 1 card out of 52 for each spot (removing one) and end up with a random distribution instead of cycling through 311 gajillion fixed combinations? And that's just the deal... How is it that you think the draw is performed?

If webman feels it does not belong here, I'm sure he will move it to the correct directory... Don't you think...

It's actually much simpler than that. If you need 2 cards, you randomly select one of the 47 cards remaining and then 1 of the 46 remaining after that. You don't have to cycle through every possible outcome of all 5 cards. Imagine that for 100 play... While it could work the way you describe, it would be terrible programming. The simpler solution is much better. You'll be better off if you think of shuffling actual cards instead of this gigantic matrix you've built up in your head. It's actually a very simple game.

As I said up front...
I might me 100% correct, or 100% dead wrong or some where in-between... I believe Eduardo's description of the card selection process is correct. Therefore, I'm leaning to the 100% wrong option.

Where did you read about the process you have described?
