Just back from an overnight with the Mrs not even one pic to share. The worst streak for both of us this year. Similar story from all we talked to up there. Besides, it was almost like a ghost town. Not even one regular we know was there. Something amiss? Most would say no. I say who knows. Budgets weren’t big due to recent disasters. Most of the Vp machines were empty. Wish we left them that way. One good treat. Both had Ben and Jerri’s Cherry Garcia Hot Fudge Sundaes. Still excellent. No inflation???? Kissed a 20 dollar bill plus good bye for those Plus tip. If you haven’t noticed shrinkflation, a half gallon of ice cream went to 52 ounces, then, 48, then 42. Of course with higher prices than the original half gallon. New investigation into price gouging by grocery stores. That will never go anywhere. I’m sure they could mesmerize any government inspectors with data that would make your head spin. At least my Elantra got 47 mpg on the way home even in heavy traffic. Now to check in if I recovered any losses from a decent day in the market. Should have done a few swing trades and left VP alone
. Tiny gain 141 bucks in market. Mostly out of stocks the rest of the year. I’ll still take it

olds, are you sure that you went to the right Bizarro World this trip?

As for the ice cream, I enjoy a couple Ben & Jerry's flavors and have never tried "Cherries Garcia" but am willing. I only get pints and usually when they are on a BOGO sale or similar value. Nore that Haagen Dazs pints are actually 14 ounces and not 16 ounces. Ice cream buyer be ware!

Oh, and, better luck next time.

Olds, sorry you and the MRS had a really bad trip VP-wise. Hopefully, the next trip will be a roaring for years. success.

I am an ice cream freak. I have to have my small bowl as my late-night snack. I haven't had Ben and Jerry's for years. It is over-priced, and I don't like them mixing politics with ice-cream. My go to brand is Blue Bell. Tastes great and still sell a true half gallon as they proudly advertise. While the retail price has gone up, I usually get it on sale for a reasonable amount. Not sure it is available in Connecticut or in Illinois (Ted).

We both agree Bill on the politics. We boycotted Ben and Jerri’s for at least the last five years and I finally decided to treat the Mrs as the Cherry Garcia was always her favorite. That will be it though this one time. We like Turkey Hill which we get in Ct and is very good. They also have BOGO often. I can’t remember seeing your brand Bill, but will look into it. Ted, if the politics stuff doesn’t bother you, I think you will like the Cherry Garcia. One reason we splurged was I was continually seeing how hard the kids work at their store at Bizarro and wanted to give them a nice tip. Scooping out rock hard ice cream non stop for 8 hours is brutal work and the kids that work there are so pleasant. In the future, I can always just drop a tip in their milk can anyway and still not buy anything. I think I will do that. Their store is right in the mall near the hotel lobby.🙂 By the way, I misspelled
their name on purpose. 🙂 OK back to Bizarro VP. A quick trip on tap for Sunday. They are giving the Mrs her first ever gift card ( 75 ). And there is a good local dairy not far away that has great ice cream too!!! The plan so far is to have a late breakfast on Bizarro, play a 20 each, then split.

I will say it is nice having Mohegan Sun away from the hustle and bustle of the cities. The Mrs actually grew up not far from there. That part of Ct is pretty much the same as it was when we first met in the late 1960s.
Ted and Bill….It looks like BlueBell goes as far west as Arizona and just about skips Illinois, but they are in Indiana. Unfortunately, no further up my way than Virginia. Love their website and historic photos.

Nice plan, but somehow I don't see you playing 20 bucks and leaving...good luck

😂 Thanks. It will work this time cause I will have the Mrs with me and we rarely go during the day to avoid the crowds. Have to leave in the morning this time to get there because of the limited gift card hours. No doubt a ploy to get us there. I do have rooms booked however next mid week. 😬.

This discussion refers to the modern day phenomenon commonly referred to as shrinkflation, an inevitable extension and byproduct of inflation. The only ice cream brands which retain the 64 ounce packages are those that need it to keep their sales volume up. They are about as rare as your 800:1 RF machines. Fret not. A Wendy’s key fob grants patrons a free Frosty each visit with any purchase. Of course, one cannot fob this off as genuine ice cream. It is what it is.

I think they are a buck the rest of the summer. I just in general don’t care for them.
