Yep, and it's happening all over LV.notes1 wrote: ↑Sun Aug 02, 2020 8:10 pmas one that doesn't always think the casinos are 100% on the up and up, especially the RNG, it would be unusual for me to take their side. but, with a shutdown, more expensive precautionary measures, closed down machines and likely less customers and less money being wagered, what are they supposed to do?
seems it would be expected the holds would increase. personally, just for the sake of having something do when i need to get out of the house, i may not like it, but understand it.

LV From what I read most of Las Vegas is not following the health and safety protocols that is number one. So if they can’t even do that they deserve to continue to lose business

when you mix booze with taking precautions, guess which one takes a back seat.
seems to me, many facts about the virus are known, and folks need to start taking responsibility for their own actions. if one MUST go to work and their employer is not providing adequate safety measures, they have my sympathy. but, others, who choose to go to the casino, not wear a mask, wear a mask improperly, get hammered and throw caution to wind, go to a house party, where everyone is acting with abandon, it is their own fault. can't blame anybody but themselves.

IMO, the Vegas casinos opened too soon, and didn't take the health/safety protocols seriously at all. Even though the NV governor insists he is "done" with educating businesses, and will start strict monitoring, I think it's much worse now than the first week in June.
Agree with notes1: the casinos have nobody to blame but themselves.
And, now that the magical $600 is no longer dropping into California degenerates' bank accounts, I expect casino traffic to fall even further. There is a fantastic photo on a Vegas blogger's page of a bellhop pushing a cart with a guest's "luggage." The photo shows the cart with matching luggage: four WalMart plastic bags, plus a couple more plastic shopping bags. That's the clientele here right now.
I have zero sympathy for the casinos. When I walk in to a casino last week, and the machines are covered with dirty drink cups, overflowing ashtrays and discarded paper masks on machines, it's disgusting. Oh, plus: the "guests" wearing pants without a belt, so dirty underwear on display.
No thanks.

the observations made above are why i started the thread, that i was grateful for how my local casino has been consistent in doing a good job in taking precautions and protecting players, as much as possible.

I have noticed people at Mohegan Sun I have never seen before and will probably never see again. I also overheard some talking about gambling with their fed money, working under the table, and so forth. The luggage scenario Doug wrote is spot on. I saw bags, coolers, and in general dischelved looking people everywhere. Since I would immediately be accused of being a racist, I won’t comment further on the clientele. And I suppose it is quite possible that the conditions at their homes were so bad this was a bit of an escape for them. Many had kids. Unfortunately, there were fights at the pool and they had to close it more than once. Security has their hands full with mon complying mask people too. Mohegan Sun has done a fine job with safety and cleaning. These people are not making it any easier.

I've played more at the South Point than all other casinos combined since reopening --- always on graveyard --- and the casino is clean. They've had attractive promotions. I've seen security guards ask people to wear their mask appropriately, but not every time and it's hard to drink or smoke when you're wearing a mask.
Several LV casinos have tightened considerably (Stations is probably the biggest culprit --- but Boyd isn't far behind). Much of my info is from others. I haven't done a thorough search. Afraid to spend that much time in a casino these days.

Dominoes continue to fall.
Today, SEMA cancelled its annual convention . That's about 160,000 visitors not coming to Vegas in November.
No CES in January, no AVN, no fans at Raiders games all season (empty new stadium).
I doubt the NFR will occur in December. If the concrete show also cancels, nothing left.
Sooooo, casinos got to make money somehow to stay open. Or they don't. ..
I agree with Bob, South Point has some good promos, but the unbearable smoke keeps me out permanently. I like to breathe.

of compliance there. If smoking is allowed they are not serious!

Absolutely agree. If they are smoking, their mask is down. If I can smell the smoke, I can inhale the virus. Like Bob, most of my casino time is overnight until about 7:30 AM. After that they’re back. By they, I just mean the mask droppers, drinkers, screamers, the usual casino crowd. On the other hand, if Mohegan Sun goes back to allowing indoor smoking, I’m done with vp except playing for fun. If I knew it was coming around the corner, I would be test driving a new Mercedes CLS 400 right now. It would be paid for in one year of no vp.
