Re: what do we want from casinos
I think it's just out of ignorance. Most players don't have a clue what's going on or what the protocol is. It's amazing the questions people ask like "How do you play this game?", "Why won't my card work" or "Why can't I cash out?". I even had a guy ask me why his machine wouldn't work when it was locked up for a Royal Flush! Incredible...

LOL! The screen should be flashing on how much money the guy has won, so he should have been more excited than puzzled

Not only that, it was a progressive and it locked because he was getting a W2G... We were all sitting at the Beau Rivage bar trying for the Royal. He got really excited when he hit a straight and then the machine locked up with a dealt Royal. The best players in the world can't duplicate that feat.

I would like to see a special area of VP machines reserved for "button slappers" so they can annoy the crap out of each other and let me play in peace!
The parking lot would be a good place for these people...

How about the casinos fix the darn buttons so they don't have to be slapped? There are some machines that appear to have not been serviced in years. Buttons that don't work at all, screens that look like they're 10 years old, touch screen that aren't calibrated correctly or don't work at all. Very annoying.

one thing i think we need to consider is that VP players are no longer really relished by casinos. it is puely a matter of numbers. the hold for many casinos for vp is between 2-4% and slots it is 6-14%. The casinos make so much more per dollar wagered, from slot players. we have math folks on this site and this is simply a matter of business math. there are many more times slot players than vp players, they make more from slots, they will give higher comps to slots and the machines will be in better shape. face it, VP is a low priority, we carry little weight to the casinos.

.1. VP machines that have the games I want to play at the denominations I can play with at least 98-99% pay tables.
2. Machines with the sound turned down or kept low or that I can manually control.
I ask the attendant to frequently turn down the sound of machines that annoy me and they have always complied or I'll manually turn them down when someone leaves.
3. Comfortable chairs for long hours of VP play.
Most serious VP players sit longer than slot players. OK, so the Isle brought in these great swivel, cushiony chairs for the high limit area across the aisle from VP with the crappy, cheap, hard chairs . The floor people finally realized that a pair of those chairs were going to be moved and filled with Sweet C's and my posterior when we played.
4. Working buttons/cash receptors/card readers
I can't afford to give the house any more edge. If a button doesn't work I hit the "help" light and request the button be fixed. (I try to make it a point to become friends with all of the casino techs that work the floor.) Second, when they have competed the repair I ask that the floor supervisor be called over. In front of the tech or when the supervisor arrives I complement the tech on their assisting with my needs. I've often taken time to fill out a Comment Card using the Tech's name and you'd be amazed how often they comment back to me a Thank You. It tends to go in their employment/evaluation file. Amazing how many worker bees come to honey.
5. Nice, comfortable beds and at least one nice restaurant.
6. The ability to receive comps based on my play and marketing people/hosts who understand that VP players have to work at least twice as hard for their points.
7. A clean, safe environment with decent clean restrooms.
I know there are some others but I'm too tired or too old the remember the rest of them....

Financially, we're the equivalent of flies, excluding those who stay glued for hours piling up points or credits. We're all losers in the long run. VPers just take four times the time to make their donation. I did get rated for craps my last visit, though my bets were always the token min. I may as well have continued with VP.
