I can certainly appreciate a Swift name check. This is quality erudition. And I thought that I was slumming it here!
Nonetheless, I have recently been playing more max coin. All this has accomplished is a mass exit of bankroll. Or Swift exit.

Dumb? Let's say you and I both have $20 in our pockets.  You walk up to a video poker machine and play deuces wild with max coin quarters. You have a 1 in 45,000 chance of hitting a $1,000 royal.  I walk into the high limit room with my $20 bill.  I play single coin $5s with mine. I have a 1 in 5,000 chance of hitting a $1,000 quad deuce with my $20.  This gives me a 9 times better chance of making $1,000 than you do.   I have done this 4 times so far.  Should I give the money back?Â
So what? If you're playing a max-coin penny single-line machine, you have a 1 in ~40,000 chance of hitting a $40 royal. But if you play single line $20 JoB, you have about a 1 in 4 chance of winning $40 or more. Wow! Amazing! Single-line is definitely the better choice!

Could the monkey substitute Banana Bread for the Italian bread with his/her Lasagna? That would add more value I would think.
Could the monkey substitute Banana Bread for the Italian bread with his/her Lasagna? That would add more value I would think.
Funny... The idea that any legal strategy can affect the outcome of a RNG is laughable. Playing the best games perfectly lets you play more hands for your money. There is skill involved in that. However, skill doesn't now or ever guarantee jackpots.VP is a slot machine. It's purpose is to move money from your bankroll to the casino's checking account. If it goes the other way, it's not due totally to some great skill or strategy on your part. You got lucky. If you are lucky enough before you die, you win long term. Simple enough...VP isn't draw poker. You can't bluff your opponent. You can't read what cards he's holding and you sure can't predict what will happen on the next hand. The world is full of broke gamblers who believed they had developed a way to beat the casinos. I wish you luck, you'll need it.

On the other hand, you do know exactly how much you'll be paid for a particular hand, and the odds of hitting that hand. And, you can't be bluffed off of a paying hand.

You could say the same about blackjack, but I think most would concede that under the right circumstances, a skilled player can have an edge and win in that game. Blackjack is still random. You are never guaranteed a "jackpot" blackjack hand, or a winning session over a certain number of plays. There is no guarantee on any deal whatsoever. But if you play your cards right, you can have the edge over time. I don't know why people find that easier to understand with blackjack than video poker. People get hung up on the "RNG" and machine aspect of the game instead of looking at the odds and at themselves.

VP is a little like religion. Some forum members believe everyone who doesn't think like they do are going to burn in hell. Personally, I think everyone is entitled to their own opinion on VP and hell. To me VP is a nice day of entertainment. When I walk around a casino, I don't see much difference between VP and slots. I've hit some great jackpots on both. I can see how some players would think playing positive games perfectly could make you money. It's logical, except there's that damn RNG that may or may not go your way. I play max coins most of the time. I'm decent at deuces wild and I play as close to perfect as I can. I take advantage of all the comps the casino gives me and I have no complaints. I do not yearn to move to Vegas just so I can play positive games and spend my evenings eating free casino dinners. My life experiences are different and I'm happy right where I am. I am not going to tell anyone how to play VP or what's wrong with the way they do. I respect people who create revenue by using their own talents and initiative. I don't respect big talkers with nothing to show for it. Few successful people want their life's work to be defined by their last royal flush.I would prefer this forum be about having fun playing VP, not waging personal attacks. VP is a great leisure time activity however you like to play it. My hope is the recreational forum can be about having fun. Mr. Dancer gets this. When everyone gets it, we may be able to get back to VP instead of banning or burning players you don't like.

A confession. I have played single coin video poker. It was many, many years ago. The circumstances at the time seemed to make that choice the lesser of evils.
Upon arriving at one of our regular Las Vegas casino stops (The Barbary Coast), we discovered that some "bright light" had decided to significantly reduce the 25c deuces wild payables. I don't recall how bad they were, but they were bad!
But at the $1 denomination, NSU deuces was still available. At the time, our playing budget did not support playing single line full coin dollars, so I did, for that visit only, play one coin $1 NSU deuces. I hated every minute of it!
