Re: Quarter Deuces
I hope to find the discipline to exclusively max quarter my trips this year. If I have an urge to play with dollar fire, I'll go drink somewhere or read. It's always happy hour somewhere in AC. My round trip is over four hours, but I can justify under ninety minutes of play. The time shall pass. My number one goal is not passing in twenties like a fiend in search of the quad or RF. In short, I must rehabilitate myself and shape up. Back to the old days when I merely rotated duty within the quarter bank.
I hope to find the discipline to exclusively max quarter my trips this year.
The entire casino experience rotates around the dream of hitting it big. It's a war over who is going to keep our money, us or the casino? The casinos spend millions of dollars a year to suck us into that dream. Personally, I want the casino to make money. I want them to be there next week. I am happy with everything as it is, but I don't want to pay more than I have to.Consider this thread a "Weight Watchers" help line for VP players who want to kick the bigger is better habit. I have been among the worst offenders. I created this thread to motivate me to try this for one year. Monday is a bonus free play day. My wife is going with me this time. Let's get on with it.

You have a personal disciplinarian riding shotgun this time, so you will be fine. I must be ready to shake it like the place is on fire tomorrow. I'll probably inject a dozen hands of dollar to get the hand pay pursuit out of my system and pray for a mere -$30. As you know, this usually amounts to screwing the pooch.

And when you hit it big all it does for most of us is make us want to go back more often maybe play at even a higher level. Prime example...In 2016 as was posted here, I hit 2 hand pays for 18k each less than 24 hours apart. Even though I got a check for one and went same day to my bank which just happens to have a branch a mile from the casino and deposited it, both home runs had been reduced to Infield Fly Rule outs in less than 4 months. My 18k was on first and second base. There were less than 2 outs. Ordinary effort was present since that was my play. The Umpire being the casino made the call. The rest is history.

Today was Bonus Free Play Day at the Tampa Hard Rock, so we decided to make it a family outing. We arrived about 10:15 AM. We headed to our favorite Gold Pays Fire Cracker slot to play our free play. I had $75 and my wife had $30 in free play. Playing $3.40 a spin, the machine gobbled up all my free play in about 5 minutes. No help from the slots this time out. My wife cashed out a $50 ticket and we moved down to the Non Smoking Casino. We upped our daily bankroll to $400 each to ensure we took enough money to last all day. We both played max coin single line quarter 97.58% deuces wild. We never changed denomination and we took no pot shots. We ate a comped lunch in the Hard Rock Cafe and hit the machines solid until 3:00 PM when we drove home. We both hit one quad deuce each and no royals. When we tallied up the white tickets, I had exactly the same amount of money I walked in with and my wife made $120. So far I am ahead $200 for 2018 and my wife is up $120. Our goal in this thread is to provide forum members with a real life account of our results played by real people in real 2018 conditions. Florida is not Vegas. It's an average East Coast casino with negative odds and games anyone can play. We expect the negative odds will catch up with us eventually and there will be a cost to play these games. We will report comps as we use them.

To accurately calculate your VP results you should include comps. Comps have different values to different players. A free room doesn't have much value to a player who lives 10 minutes from the casino. Drinks and food only have value to someone who would purchase them. Winning a cruise would be worthless to us as we hate cruises and so on...We will not include raffle wins, points or merchandise in our results. We will only track cash and actual white ticket wins. All wins with free play will be included in our results. We will talk about comps in this thread, but we will not include comps in our results. We want forum members to see our actual out of pocket cash cost of playing today's VP games. We do not pretend to play VP 100% computer perfect. Both of us use VPW software to avoid major mistakes. Our one major modification is to go for a royal on all non deuce 2 card royal flush draws. We are recreational players who are serious about our VP. It's a big part of our life and we enjoy the time we spend at the machines.

A long time client called this morning to set up a meeting in Miami. Checking the Hard Rock Hollywood website, I booked a comped room next week. This room will save me about $200 in hotel costs. I love using comped rooms on business trips. It turns work into a treat. All I have to do is beat the odds.

Just a thought on holding 2 card royals you are not supposed to hold according the the strategy. When you do this, you are preventing getting 3 other royals and many quad dueces combinations.
