Re: Coronavirus and Casinos
Too many unknowns at this point. This thing is probably like having a bad flu. Most people will recover. Thousands of elderly people die of the flu each year. Many were near death before they got sick. Until more is known, things are going to be in flux.
I expect the markets to move up and down on every Dooms Day news flash. This isn't 2008, but it's going to be volatile. You will need enough cash to get you through the next 6 months to a year. You should have been trimming profits before now. After this is over, I expect to see a 4,000 Dow. We'll see. This is going to be a nuclear hit on the Chinese. It's going to be good for American workers.
Florida is reporting new cases and two deaths so far. I expect that will get worse. Most seniors who regularly go to the casino will stay home. They will get used to having money in their pockets. They will find other things to do with their time.

I suspect on line gambling will get a boost. Portfolio so far only took a 2 percent hit. Of course I missed most of the 30 percent rise others got last year.

That should have been Dow 40,000. It could get to 4,000 before we get there.FloridaPhil wrote: ↑Sun Mar 08, 2020 6:36 amAfter this is over, I expect to see a 4,000 Dow. We'll see.

It’s been nice to pause the casino crises and see solvency and sanity again. My return was memorable. Three quads, capped by a max BP quad Aces.

It was reported today that we have a confirmed case here in the county I live in. Hudson Valley Region in NY. Man recently returned from a trip to France.

We have two confirmed cases in Las Vegas, but our Governor likes to call them "presumptive cases." HM

I think that the general psychological and financial malaise will get to a tipping point this week. Expect emptier and emptier casinos. Buffet? Sure, you’ll have the run of the place. Bar? Personal bartender. VP? Enjoy your space. Although the one annoying battle ax regular was still there.
