Re: Turning $20 into $1,000 Again...
Mohegan Sun in CT. and Foxwoods both have nickel vp machines. You have to be content except for one Multi-Strike machine to accept 96% or so paytables. There is one bank at Mohegan that pays 800 for 1 on the spin poker games for the Royal. For the strictly single lin e players, you only have to play the center line. I don't know of any other casino that offers 800 for 1 on the Royal for 1 nickel bet. You also have the option to change denomination from nickels to dimes and to quarters and max bet is 10 not 5. This gives single coin or Martingale players quite a bit of flexability. Last night's results posted below. Got lucky, but only near the end of a long session with only minutes to play.
I played the above machines and some other single coin nickel games late last night and into early morning. I never caught deuces quads, but I can't believe that in a particular run on 12 hands on Bonus Deuces Wild, 7 of the hands were Wild Royals. This was on a single line game. This will never happen again and I cannot even imagine what the probability of that happening is. So that pretty much made up for not hitting the deuces quads and the Wild Royals on these machines paid 25 for 1 as well. I never really got ahead much playing them, but lasted for hours with the same hundred even playing the combo Phil method and Martingale clone. Finally got a little bored, tired, and needed a good long fast walk to loosen up the joints so that is what I did. The casino was almost empty at that point since it was like 5 AM.
Of course I had to walk by my favorite Double Down Stud machine which happened to be empty and plopped the hundred and eleven bucks on the ticket into it. Up, down, up down for about 2 hours, but luckily no real long dud streaks. Finally hit a couple of straight flushes and 1 five of a kind and I was about even at that point. I was playing the Phil method and holding my own pretty well without hitting the ATM or my pocket for another bill.
No waitresses around and dying for a cup of coffee and I decided to take off my watch, put it down right in front of me and play for just another 15 minutes.....Caught a quad at single coin bet, the next hand at bet 5 was another dealt quad ( all of this on Deuces Wild Double Down Stud ) quarter game " and then it happened " ( forget what song that line is from ) Dealt 3 deuces with 5 in....doubled the bet of course...and last card was the other deuce good for a grand!!!!! Off to coffee, quick nap in the car, and home with a pretty happy ending for a change.

I hit 4 deuces 2 times today in 6 hours play both on 1 coin but came home with small profit. Nothing wrong waiting out all the bad hands at the 1 coin, sooner or later you get that max hit, its a great feeling as you know! Great story nice hit!

vpfree2 does not even list any reports of nickel games on the East Coast. I'm okay with single line quarter JOB at varying bet levels. But it would be nice to see options. I guess none qualify as worthy of their Best Games column. I've officially lost curiosity about Sands now that I see their killer 96.15% JOB listing.
Yeah, VPFree2 typically won't list machines below 99% a lot. For the Vegas strip, they'll lower themselves to 98%.
I can tell you the best nickel machines I've found at various casinos, but I haven't played VP east of Michigan. In my experience, you usually can find something in the high 97% range. It's often difficult to find 99%+. For PA though, I'd expect worse. Maybe 6/5 Bonus if you're lucky. I would look at STP games for nickel options. You have to only play one hand to max bet.
Nice hit Olds!

Thanks all for the well wishes. I had a funny feeling that day something good might happen. I also got a 1918 penny in change that day in the morning.

1918? Wow! I would think the odds of that are less than those 4 Deuces!

I think you are right there Vman. The last time I got one of those in change was around 1958 when I had my door to door TV guide route and I was glad to find it back then. Also once in awhile back then I would also get Indian Head pennies in change, but not often. I never heard the term Native American head pennies used before, so that is why I called it as I knew it back then. As long as we are on the subject,( which as you see doesn't take much for me to wander for a minute from video poker) the best coin I ever got in change from that TV guide route was an original Civil War Token that was still shiny. Not worth that much, just to me since my mom's side were Confederates and Dad's side were Yankees from PA. going back to the 1860's and before. Since they met during WW11, none of that mattered at the time. Just one thing was on everyone's mind and that was winning the war that we were losing at the time shortly after Pearl.
Should be making a quick trip up late tonight with the Mrs. Have a room luckily, then back in the AM with the folks. Hope I have even a partial instant reply, but I am not carzy about going 19 innings this time.

I'm sad to say that paytables for the best games at each casino are getting lower and lower.

Oh I agree. But outside of the strip, VPFree2 reporters tend to be a bit more picky. When I report around the country, I'll usually report anything 98.8% or higher so games like 9/6 DDB (98.98%) and 98.91% deuces get included. Until more recently, many people would leave those games off and listings of these games were very poor. When I add games, these paytables are many of them.
