That was my intention after my first hand pay, for the satisfaction of recouping fifteen losing trips. But that’s proven to be too much of a pipe dream for the likes of an unfortunate soul like myself. I must now focus on ruthlessly cutting the play time in half.

Ever think of combining a little day trading with VP. No fees with Fidelity and most other brokers nowadays. It can be fun even if you just pick up gas money. The downside is it complicates your tax return, but Fidelity does a lot of the work ahead of time for me. I like to call it short term trading because I’m very rarely in and out on the same day. It offsets much of my annual VP losses pretty well. Funny, my discipline is much better with stocks than VP. One other plus. If you lose money on a trade, you can offset your other gains, then write off the rest on your 1040. If you exceed the archaic max 3,000 loss after gains for the year, you can carry them over forever to subsequent years. That’s a big plus for me because it translates into Uncle Sam and the State of Ct combined paying for 29 percent of my mistakes if I have a trading loss for the year. Not only that, if I still like a stock I lost money on, I can buy it back after 30 days to avoid the wash sale rules and still get the tax deduction on the loss. I won’t elaborate on all of those which can be a bit involved, but if you screw up and re buy a stock you lost money on, you can still add your loss to the basis of your new purchase. I’m skipping a lot of the fine points, but that’s the jist of it. One more thing. If you make money trading short term, you can still offset the profit by selling some or all of a stock you may have been holding a long time and it has gone nowhere but down. I did that last year and it helped a lot. Fortunately, at the moment,
I am out of all the losers. Fingers crossed on the market. It’s over bought for sure.

Our trip up Sunday for our Anniversary was nice and the comped us a big suite for Sunday and Monday, but our play was a bust. Nothing worth writing about. Not even a nice hit here or there. I’m now back in the red for 2024.
. I’m giving it another shot tomorrow night. Have been making a few Market plays to compensate. Put a dent in the VP, but still a ways to go.

Sounds familiar. When a session is just pure take, that’s pure torture. Another reason that I can’t play at Resorts. Nowhere to turn near HL room for quarter VP. When you do find it, it’s ancient difficult to handle machines! I much prefer to scoot between the ones at Caesars, but their severe downgrade now makes that strategy untenable.

I’m surprised they didn’t just go to 8/5. Lots of VP players will still play that. I won’t. That was a huge and awful jump. So far my Tesla purchase covered 1/3 of my latest session fiasco.

Olds, hope your 2024 scorecard turns green shortly.
