One Coin Quarters
I'm starting to think I could have just as much fun playing one coin quarters. Let's face it, 97% games are a long term loser no matter what you do. I enjoy playing the games and the casino experience, but the cost is getting to me. I tried playing one coin quarters a couple of years ago and I hit a royal and 4 aces w. kicker in one morning. I was devastated, but I think I can handle it now. I know I would also cut my winnings, but I think I would be better off. I'm always kidding myself that I will catch back up and recoup my loses. Any opinions?

Does your casino have 5 coin nickels machines?

No. Quarters are the lowest denomination in Florida at this time. 8/5 DDB is available in quarters. You have to get to $2 per coin to find 9/6 Jacks or anything close to 100%.

Phil, $325.00 single coin quarter RF is better than a max coin nickel RF. Max coin dimes would beat it but it would also up your ante by a quarter so the single coin would be advantageous to you.

This is personally challenging for me, but I'm going to ovecome it. I played single coin on the Alaska cruise and I've been playing single coin quarters on my software at home and so far I've been good with it. I think the best thing for me to do is to go to the casino next time with only $100 in my pocket. I'll have no choice but to play one coin. The question is if you can have just as much fun playing VP without risking much money. In my case I think I can.

I see the Seminole Immokalee casino has .25 job from vpfree2. Don't know how much further that would be but it looks like it would be far better than anything you are playing now.

Interesting. I've never been to the Immokalee Hard Rock. It's out in the Everglades off of Alligator Alley. Might have to give it a try. Gulfstream Park has VP with an interesting pay schedule. There is no penalty for playing less than one coin. The Royal jackpot slides down on a straight line with the one coin jackpot at more than 250 coins. I play there when I get the chance.

I'm on my way to the Tampa Hard Rock this morning. Today will be an experiment to see how I do with one coin quarter play. I've played a ton of one coin $1s before, so the strategy is the same. I have $20 in free play and I'm taking $100 in cash and no bank cards. My plan is to play the $20 free play first at max coin .50. If I hit a quad or better, I'll cash out the ticket and decide what to do from there. If I don't hit anything, I'll play one coin quarters for the day. If I can play for 3-4 hours and walking out down only $100 it would be a great result for me. Later...

My first day of single quarter play went well. I got to the casino around 8 AM. As expected, I didn't hit anything on the $20 free play. I played single coin quarter DDB for 4 hours, got tired and left. This was a new experience for me as I normally bust or decide to leave way before that. About every 400 hands or so I got the expected quad. I think I probably had around 7-8 quads total for the day. All of them were regular quads, one was four deuces w/o kicker. I was encouraged to find that playing at that low of a denomination was still fun. I had a ball, played until I had enough and walked out totally satisfied. A couple of times I got up quite a bit and went to max coin quarters. I never hit a quad at max coins, but had a $50 run up. It doesn't take much of a run to get a lot of your money back. Anyway, total cost for the day - $40. Wow! I just got a $1,000 a month raise!! It really felt good. I played longer and had just as much fun as before for $10 an hour. I'm sure my comps and free casino trips will suffer, but I can now afford to pay my own way anywhere I want to go.
