When Bad Turns Good

Post by FloridaPhil »

One of the things we like about playing deuces wild is that bad hands can turn good.   Perfect Deuces Wild strategy can be daunting.   This is a game where every hand must be analyzed and playing slow is an advantage.  Dancer's Winners Guide books break down DW strategy into Basic, Recreational and Advanced.  I use Recreational Strategy.  My wife modifies it somewhat because she likes to see more royals and she does.   I play using my VPW software strategy which is set up exactly according to the 98.9% game we play locally.  She plays slow and very deliberate, I tend to play too fast and miss an obvious hand on occasion and I'm working on that.  The good news is deuces wild can turn a miss into a win.  With four deuces in play, most anything can happen and some of them are wonderful.

Will remember when getting waylaid on the overrated nirvana of JOB. Time for that software. Sounds like I will get my money's worth.

Except for an occasional diversion, I tossed Job years ago. The quad less days are devastating and not that unusual. So many times I have tossed a junk hand in Deuces Wild only to be rewarded by a Wild Royal, 5 of a kind, or even quad deuces. I can think of at least 4 times this year I pulled the quad deuces after tossing everything. At least with deuces, hope is not dashed on the draw until all of the cards are in. Speaking of which I am up to nearly 300k hands again without a Royal in all forms of play. If it weren't for the deuces, I would be behind much more than I am now.

I get frustrated with DW precisely because I toss so many hands back into the void. My misses have remained misses too. It's some consolation to me how often I get a decent JOB hand. Until I go quad free on the day, of course. My DW fear is irrational. I'm good playing for free, but my scant play at casinos has been uneventful. Devoting a Deuces Day soon. You all must be on to something! I've seen the evidence and do believe my eyes.

You can have bad days playing deuces wild as well.  Fortunately, the game seems to be fairly bankroll friendly on a session basis, especially if you cash out often and don't feed the tickets back into the machine.  Ted is right, natural royals cure all ills.

Right! Taking a red marker to DNR the white slips. Do Not Refeed. I'll have a lot of accessories on hand to wage the battle. Nat Royal, I vaguely remember him from our meeting in March. Sure would be swell to reconnect soon. Anywhere in AC works for me. Don't be a stranger, Nat!
