As someone relatively new to the world of video poker, I found Wolf Software's Frugal Video Poker program to be a very good program for the following reasons:1. Custom paytables. The software lets you change paytables on popular games and calculates the basic strategy for the modified table. My local option has a full-pay progressive BPDW machine and having the ability to modify the payouts on the RF and 4D made it so I could use the strategy that fit the game. 2. Statistics. I did not know the risk of ruin was so high given my sizeable bankroll for the denomination being played! 3. Computer simulation. You can ask the computer to play sessions with 2,000 hands (one gaming day in my case); 20,000 hands, or tens or hundreds of millions! And, importantly, it is free. It is an older program but I found it to be a great teacher.
