Calling down God the Father, or Jesus in a fight
Recent posts have me thinking....consider wars since the life and death of Jesus Christ....people on both sides invoke or call down the Hebrew Christian God, or his son Jesus, to bless THEM and THEIR efforts against the enemy, while the "enemy" does the same. Think of the American civil war with both sides replete with devout Christian's, or the world wars, one and two, where Christians on both sides wiped each other out.
The Bible teaches Christians to be nonviolent, forgiving and loving etc. It also teaches that God the Father, and his son Jesus are impartial (Acts 10:34; 1Peter 1:17), that anyone who tries to please God, serve him and do his will is acceptable. So what business does anyone, or any group, have asking God and his son to help them kill other human beings?

I never asked God to help me kill anyone. I ask him to forgive me.
It's a quandary. Should we step aside and let evil triumph?
I believe the strong are as obligated to protect the weak as the rich are obligated to the poor.
What does the bible say about people who bury their talents and abilities?

I can't count the number of times I prayed like Peter and cried out Lord Save Me. Matthew 14:30
I'm living proof he answered my call. Jeremiah 33:3
Matthew 10:25-30
Matthew 5:22

Why are some saved while others not? Is some heavenly coin tossed? Are we to assume those who are not spared are somehow not deserving to live another day?

God must not be a NY Giants fan. I used to think if I missed church on Sunday, the Giants would lose. Not working anymore.

God obviously has a different plan for Big Blue this year. Perhaps it involves reallocation of money put aside for tickets for a deep playoff run.
She works in mysterious ways.

4 home games left. Will be more empty seats than we have ever seen at a Giants game. McAdoo is a dead man walking. Clueless, absolutely clueless. Makes Ray Handley look like Vince Lombardi. Should have taken Janoris Jenkins and some others right off the field yesterday.

I'm guessing you never got to the old Yankee Stadium or the Yale Bowl? Game wasn't televised out here, but I was doing telephone bidding for a friend who was watching the game. It sounded truly ugly.

I actually did get to games at the old Yankee Stadium and Yale Bowl which I believe was back in the early 70's. But I think the 4 upcoming home games will be pretty bad. Look for a lot of Cowboy and Eagle fans.

Nice thread diversion to football and the NY Giants! Real nice....
I suppose the question is valid for football too, since many people pray for their team to win...I'm sure God and Jesus are sick of being asked to help all thirty two nfl teams at the same time.
It doesn't matter though.... God stays out of football, since he realizes no one is better, or more deserving of victory than New England, Tom Brady and Coach belichik.
