Just caught back up to this. Congrats on the Royal, Sarah! Helped snap that awful derail by Phil too!
I am sorry if you believe the only reason for this forum is to congratulate our members on their jackpots. I am aware gamblers only talk about winning, never how much they lose. Over the many years I have played VP, I have become aware that losses are more significant than wins.
The best way to hold down your losses is to play less, either less hands or less money per hand. My wife and I have most likely played more hands of VP than 98% of the members on this forum. There were many times when we played for a week at a time. We drove and flew all over the country. We played 100% games and a lot of negative VP too. For 99.9% of the players, beating the casino long term is pure fantasy. That dream fills casinos with hopeful losers and sells a lot of stuff promising to make you a winner. There is nothing wrong with a dream as long as it doesn't override your common sense.
I tell people I play VP for entertainment. I think it's great fun. If you play like the experts tell you, you will play a lot cheaper than most. I don't tell people they can beat the casino because most won't. Some members don't want to hear that. I am sorry if that ruins your day, but it's true.
