Another FP Warning
New Smyrna Beach in Volusia County, Fl is the shark attack capital of the world, and it lived up to that reputation this weekend, with three people bitten over two days. I know you're a great fisherman, but even you are out of your depths against these carnivores. Stay safe!

I am not a professional swimmer. I swim for entertainment only.
I'm tired of the experts telling us not to swim when there are sharks in the water. For professional swimmers, this may make sense. But not all of us have waters to swim in that aren't shark infested.
Why don't the experts spend more time telling us HOW to swim in shark infested waters instead of telling us not to go swimming?

Eduardo, You might want to swim only one limb at a time rather than risking all 4 limbs at once. Certainly, you will not be able to swim as fast with only one limb, but your expected loss of blood may be smaller with lesser exposure than with max limbs.

Eduardo,
Always swim with a buddy. One that doesn't swim as well or as fast as you.

All good advice Eduardo but you also must take into account that if you are a recreational swimmer you then swim for the entertainment value and shun whatever the professional swimmer has to say. Would you really mind paying the price of losing a limb or two as your cost of being entertained? I doubt though that your hospital room would be comped, nor would any of those delicious hospital meals. Please remember to pick up a few books on swimming written by professional swimmers, you can reread them while you are convalescing.

I live 5 blocks from the Atlantic Ocean in Avon NJ and used to go in the water all the time. Not anymore. I'm spooked.

What exactly equals a Royal Flush while swimming recreationally in the ocean? Survival?
