Come on people. This is a video poker forum. There are other forums out there where you can espouse your political views of any sort --- but this isn't one of them.

Excellent post rascal. Not saying i agree with your beliefs 100%, but far closer than to 0%. But totally well thought out, lucid, and well written and i respect that.
At risk of not doing as well, i would like to expand a bit on your comparison of generations, and give my opinion of why it relates to what is happening today.
The Greatest Generation had it's roots in the Great Depression. A time when people pulled together, helped their neighbor, and shared what they had along with the misery. They did not expect much help from their government, and that's about what they got. They were Americans and DID what Americans DO.
When forced into WWII by Pearl Harbor they DID what Americans DO.
I was born in 1941. I do not remember the war.But i remember the lessons from my father,a veteran of the Depression and the war.
He felt very strongly that a person, was not only responsible for himself, but also for his neighbor.
He told me this many times.Indicating that this responsibility was not a choice it was an OBLIGATION!
I can GUARANTEE you that if a virus pandemic had happened in 1950, with restriction of activities, such as are in effect today, there would not have been the wanton, irresponsible, defiance, that we are seeing today.
What happened twixt now and then?
I can tell you. Because i lived it. And i was paying attention.
I could write a book on this subject, if I had that ability, Which i don't. I will try to summarize my opinion, as short as possible.
What happened is, the war on poverty and the great society, creating ghettos, family destruction, escalation of drug addiction and crime.
What happened is, the Vietnam war. Right or wrong aside, the related protest era spawned generations of people with a different view of their government
But a point of utmost importance. What happened is,the unchecked rise of the federal government.
Unelected bureaucrats and elected politicians using the tax&spend system to gravitate power and control to Washington.
One closing comment.
Many posters on this forum were raised in the 40's & 50's as i was. I believe that they can feel, hear, taste, and smell what i am trying to say.
Other posters are only in their 40's. they cannot.
What scares me, more than the virus, is that WE are a dying generation,THEY are not.

This virus is going to keep casinos closed for a long time. Some may stay closed forever. This hurts regular working people as well as people who profit from them being open. That slot girl or waitress you tipped last month may have three kids and is wondering how she is going to pay her rent. Those are the people I feel sorry for.
I also think we should get back to video poker and leave politics off of this forum. The best strategy is to stay together.

damn, Vman, what is wrong with you. disregard any post you don't want to read. don't hold yourself in such high esteem, You did not get anything started and certainly you don't control how long any poster wishes to continue.
the casinos are closed. the reason why they are closed is a much more important and timely topic.
