Day trip

Post by clwn2 »

Had a good visit to day to a couple of the Indian casinos in San Diego.  I visited Harrahs Rincon and Valley View.  Actually I usually drop by Harrahs to get my bounce back cash.  I don't play there much because of their horrible schedules for lower denom.  I have recently been playing nickel triple play more and noticed that most of the casinos in this area have DDB in only 7/5.  So when I was in Harrahs today I noticed that the nickel triple play also had a progressive attached.  I thought, this is odd because you do not usually see a progressive attached to a triple play or on nickels so I tried it out.  Did not hit the royal but I did get dealt four aces and picked up one kicker for a cool $180.  I ended up ahead $100 when I left due to the fact I dumped $50 back in and got squat(gotta give the machine a chance to do it again).  At Valley View I treaded water for two hours and I left with the same $100.  However I noticed some of their triple plays have 8/5 DDB.  Pretty cool, I'll have to remember that..

See!  It doesn't take much to put a smile on my face.  I know, it was only nickels but with the beating I have been taking lately this was a nice change.  Shadow, I think your luck is rubbing off on me.  Either that or the rng convention is going on and they are having a blue light special.  Or was it a red light.  Heck, I don't even remember what the color of the lights on tops of the poker machines are. Anyway thats it

good for you clown!   It doesn't matter the denomination, a win is a win.  I was lucky enough to get a royal last weekend in Dubuque on a fifty cent and a twenty-five cent machine....they both were thrilling.   Some day though I would love to hit one of those with the super times play in play!

Thats a nice win to be sure.  I have never had more than one royal in a trip .  Infact, I usually hit one a year on average.  A while back I compared my hit frequency with Shadowmans and our hit frequency was about the same.  He had posted an estimate of his hands per year along with his royals.  I did the math and estimated mine and it was somewhere in the neighborhood of 40-60k hands.  In my case I got shorted since I has gotten one royal for around 70k hands.

I lied.  I had one trip years ago where I hit a couple of royals on nickel machines at the Fiesta.  Even after 15 years of play I have not had a two royal trip at the quarter or higher level regardless of length on time of the stay.  Now, if you are talking about aces with kicker I think I have done better than average.  I probable hit that hand 15- 20 times a year on average.

Anyway, that is some very good luck!
Congrats...

The RF cycle for a game like DDB is a little over 40K hands. I often play a progressive DDB which requires strategy modifications that can get this cycle time down to 35K hands quite often. However, royals can be real stinkers due to this long cycle time.

I've commented on my recent royal streak, but I also commented last year that I was 7 royals below expectation. There's one casino I've played at off and on for the last 3 years and had ZERO royals in 170K hands. Currently, I haven't hit AWAK in over 30K hands.

you need to get dealt a royal in a 5 play game now to "catch up" as you and i both know it all evens up in "the long run" which can be very long especially in fpdw without royals and four deuces it can be very dry
