Re: Bizarro World 2026
To the tune of $50K, as I recall! Amazing $800 hit. But the next day, it wasn’t worth spit. My strategy now: play until noon and get out soon! You can beat the casino for an hour. Variance catches up and brings you to your knees. Cannot and will not happen. If I have to lunch a mile away from my casino and leave town from there, so be it.

Stubbornness has never been my strong suit, but it is one of the suits. Yes, unfortunately, about 100 trips a year, so average loss 500 per trip. That of course includes all of the jackpots. Still, considering 100 rooms or suites, unlimited food and drink, shows, free play, free gas, etc……special dinners on certain Holidays and it adds up to be about the same as the loss. They get to bank it though. I don’t but I/we do enjoy the ride and diversion from everyday stresses.

Well, finally got a reply to my inquiry regarding my 2023 NJ non-resident tax return and pending refund.TripleTriple wrote: ↑Sun Jan 04, 2026 5:48 pmStill waiting for.my 2023 1040NR refund from NJ, filed April 2024. Online site says received and processing. I got my 2024 refund within a month. Difference probably that '23 return was paper and '24 e-file. Phone appointments to discuss are all booked so writing to Division of Taxation and two NJ State representatives. PITA.onemoretry wrote: ↑Sun Jan 04, 2026 11:06 amThat said, I mailed our 1040NR returns for 2024 in early January, 2025. My wife received her refund in early December, but, now more than a year later, I have yet to receive mine. Considering that a couple of the withholdings were in January, 2024, it's been almost two years since I have been without those funds.olds442jetaway wrote: ↑Sun Jan 04, 2026 8:33 am..... the only fair way is to have the rules similar to stock gains and losses based on an entire tax year with the session being the entire year.
Just goes to show, it does happen and thank goodness I have the documentation (beyond the Win/Loss statement) to support. It'll be in the mail first thing Monday morning. Don't understand why I never got a notice prior to my inquiry, but whatever. Guess I'll need to find the prime rate for April 2024 to calculate the interest I should be getting on top.
