Hot Springs, Ar. and Tunica trip....
Went to Oaklawn Racing and Gaming Track over the holiday. It is a thoroughbred race track, combined with "games of chance".They insist that they are not a casino, but a gaming establishment. Must be something with their license.Anyway, they have about 500 machines. The slots, which I didn't play, seem to be licensed differently then the usual Vegas type slots. Then there is JOB and DDB video poker. You can find 9/6 JOB but the best you can find on DDB is 8/5. We had no luck on video poker. Lost about $700. They are in the process of building a new facility. We also went to Tunica, which I thought was layed out really goofy... We stayed and played mostly at the Horseshoe because of the room comp we had. Very nice room. Wife is a Diamond and her online reservation gave her a choice of rooms, including a suite. Obviously took the suite and it was very nice.Lost about $600 there, even with a DDB .25 Royal!!! Locals say Harrahs has really tightened things up. Bro-In-Law, who lives in Memphis says before harrahs bought out a few Casinos, they used always be packed. Not any more.....All in all had fun but I'm not crazy about Tunica. We like Laughlin better for that small town feeling.....
