Lake Charles
We are thinking of going to Lake Charles this weekend.
A) Best place to stay
B)Best comp Program
C)best chance of getting some or all of the trip comp'ed
We are mid Diamond players with Harrah's if that helps.
All feedback will be appreciated without bias to race, religion or creed

L'auberge is wonderful hotel - beautiful rooms, great pool, very nice for Louisiana. Good buffet. If you are mid diamond player at Harrahs just call them and ask to talk to a host - charge everything to your room then go to the hosts desk in the Casino at the end of your stay and ask them to look at your play and comp as much as they can. Look around while you are there and find a host you like. We love going.

Isle has better comps and the cash back is much better but I prefer to gamble at lac I have hit 4 royals this year at Labuerge and is a great hotel. There comps have gotten very confusing for a lot of players. If your going on a weekend, saturdays nights are very crowded at lac. Also talk to lucky larry if you need help getting a room. Larry has lake charles wired.

baldie,
Hope you have a great trip to LC. If you don't have reservations for L'Auberge du lac - (LDL) you may already be out of luck for the weekend. Rooms are usually gone by Wednesday/Thursday or weeks in advance. Isle weekend is usually booked by Thursday - check with hosts ASAP. See hosts below.
My editorial - best according to our view:
Comps: Isle
Cash back: Isle
Easiest to get comps: Isle but as a new player you might get a good deal at LDL.
VP Play: lower denomination- Isle by far. $VP and above - LDL all $VP/higher is 99% return including NSUD.
Facilities: LDL newer more Vegas. The Isle Tower rooms are OK. Jacuzzi tub in each room. The Isle Inn is newly remodeled rooms are nice.
Pool: LDL - the lazy river is awesome. Worth going to and swim up bar in the river. Isle pool is remodeled. New GM for Isle is former finance man @ LDL; came over in early fall.
Eating: LDL but buffet is much pricier. Seafood buffet on Friday/Saturday is really nice. Le Cafe (reasonable) is really good food as is Jack Daniels Bar and Grill (pricey)
Hosts: Isle by far. LDL is really going down as far as average player but big players I think are still being treated OK. Our favorite host at LDL just came back to Isle and has some real interesting insights to how far LDL has gone down. Contact Mac Clark or Cliff Pryde or Carol Fabbriele at Isle. Don't have a good contact @ LDL anymore. Deane Broussard used to be there but haven't seen her lately.
I would certainly give them both a try regardless of where you stay. A ten minute drive between them.
Maybe you, Raven and Gigi2, et.al. and we can meet up some day in LC. We'll have a videopoker.com meeting and see if a host will set aside a suite for our use for the meeting.
Let me know if I can help with anything. BTW are you driving from Texas? - there may be a shortcut I can give you.

Are you staying at the Isle Tower or Isle Inn? If Tower (even numbered rooms) water side view is nice because you can see the beach/sail boats on the lake. West side (odd #s) is nice because the pool is the view. Many have a balcony. We usually request rooms away from rooms #5-12 - this gets you past the elevator / ice machine noise. Were you able to talk to a host?
Brief note: you can get off on second floor (Tower) and go through the hall to the right directly to the casino area and save having to go to 1st floor and take the escalators back up.
Driving Shortcut:
From Houston on I-10 we take the Hwy 73 exit (828 I think) at Winnie and follow Hwy 73 through Winnie, Port Arthur, and Bridge City. Just past BC high school after you cross over Cow Bayou - take Hwy 62/73 to the left and it takes you back to I-10 just a few miles from the border. This cuts out all of the Beaumont/Vidor traffic-construction.
Hwy 73 is a divided 2 lane road until you get to Bridge City with little traffic. Average speed is 70+ and the drive is through Wildlife reserves, rice fields, and farming areas a lot of the way. Very little traffic so it is a real relaxing drive versus I-10. Coming home I think its exit 874a that puts you in the reverse on Hwy 62/73.
**The gas stations @ I-10 and Hwy 62/73 are usually reasonable and often have gas wars going on. FYI: If you use BOA: The last convenient BOA ATM machine @ Valero corner Hwy 73/I-10. Only two BOA ATM in Lake Charles one at Valero down from LDL. Just in case to save fees.
*** Watch traffic flow from San Jacinto River near Baytown to Winnie, DPS troopers are usually very active and often staggered one after another past Trinity River bridge. We've seen up to 7 in a row so go flow of the traffic. When they aren't set up 75-80 is the norm.
Have a great trip and post pictures/report.

LL,
Thanks for all the great info. We're staying in the tower.
One other question...one or two players cards? Do they allow spouses to use the same card? With Harrah's we use the same card because u get better offers as your tier points go up.
Thanks again,
Baldie

Baldie,
We almost always use just one card per trip. We rotate card use based on whose comp is used for the room. Doubling up doubles the comps, cash back offers, and doubles Average Daily Play which impacts all of your offers. Isle refuses to let us know when the new day starts for ADP so we play until around 2:00 am and the next day (if we're not going to stay) we play on another family member's card to build up their cash back. This also allows us to use their weekly cash offer via pin. Their offers increase because of our play and one card is up to $500 cash back. They should have a good time when they come.
Hope you have a great time. Two of our girls are over at LC and have already sent pic's of great slots hits. But, we won't tell their husbands.
