how to play 2 pr. jbdb
Being fairly new to vp, I am curious to find out if any of the long term regular players out there have any luck with splitting 2 pair in search of the quad. I know what the odds say, but on a recent session I ignored the rules ( cause I was losing) and gave up on the quest for a boat and tried splitting. In 15 hands I hit twice for quads by dumping one pair. I was back to even, and walked. Hummm, is this the way to go on bonus games, or was I just stupid lucky?

Sound is familiar! I like to go for the quad but only sometimes. If it is Aces go for a quad but otherwise do not, or something like that. I need to go read it again.

I would split on aces too. But in this case I split Ks & 7s, kept the Ks and hit. Next hit was on 6s &10s,kept the 10s and hit. I think I will probably think hard if a lower case pair is present (2s, 3s, etc.)
I normally don't split, except for As in a bonus game. Thanks for your quick reply. ansoda

Eduardo's other topic that hit on this subject (with good feedback from other users as well) is here:

Webman,
Thanks for the link. It clears up alot for me. The truth be told, the game is suppose to be fun. We all like to win, but getting stressed out over second guessing is not for me. I will stick to the guide lines and have fun!

I believe one of the worst things that can happen to a new VP player is to get real lucky before they totally understand the game. This can create habits that are difficult to overcome. One always has that little devil on their shoulder telling them to toss the other pair.
