2014 January Biloxi Trip

Post by BillyJoe »

Well, the gaming season (I don't count cruise ships) has officially begun for me with my trip to The Beau Rivage in Biloxi. It was too cold to play golf, but I had a nice visit. I participated in an event over the weekend with tons of FreePlay available (several $10k and $8K prizes awarded), but unfortunately, I was not selected for anything. I also saw Huey Lewis and The News, which was really a great show. My era of rock and roll, with a terrific lead electric guitar player.

The gaming started out promising, with me playing off my $1000 FreePlay NOIR monthly gift on $5 Single Line VP. I know, the paytables suck..

Unfortunately, that was about it in VP. Several quads, but no premium hands. Did not play much on the slots at all. I even lost a bit on the table games, so overall, it was a losing gaming trip for me. Not the way I wanted the year to start.

you are right billyjoe, that paytable is horrible LOL     I tip my hat to you though, you are a braver soul than I am to tackle such a machine.....the only time I have ever played TDB was on the single line dreamcard machine at caesars in AC (now gone as I mentioned previously)    That paytable as you may recall had 9 for a full house and 6 for a flush so it was much better than this one, but still, that 2 to 1 payout on three of a kind, and 1 to 1 on two pairs makes it a bankroll gobbler of the highest order. But when you hit your royal, or 4 aces, or even 4 deuces or threes and get the 10 to 20 grand, its all worth it

DaBurglar I just quickly reviewed this thread and I must have skipped over the post you made where you had previously mentioned a Dreamcard machine at Caesars?

I reported from my last trip to AC that Caesars eliminated the four machines they had on their floor that were the well known FIVE STAR POKER machines (with videopoker.com's logo on them!)    this was all part of the effort by caesars to transition to server based games, and in the process they are getting rid of all the great games we all loved to play.   The FIVE star Machines had as one of their offerings a single line version of DREAMCARD......in fact five star machines had single line versions of everyones favorite games like good times pay, random rewards,  supertimes pay, quick quads, etc.     These games are only available as multiline versions on all other machines, which sucks because they are huge money gobblers.  I loved the single line dreamcard game, its a lot of fun, but the multiline game just eats too much money even at the 25 cent level i play.     PLUS.....the five star machine;s version of dreamcard had 6 different types of games whereas the multiline dreamcard machines usually only have four games.       MY FAVORITE WAS BONUS POKER DELUXE SINGLE LINE DREAMCARD

Oh that was in a different thread about Atlantic City and not Biloxi like what was being discussed here? My apologies sir for the confusion.

I wish you were more willing to stray from TDB, billyjoe. But at least with a sub 95% paytable, you know it probably is a dealt from a random, standard deck!

The gold strike in Tunica isn't nearly this insulting to their high limit players. They probably offer 8/5 TDB at least...haha (The high limit room at Gold Strike sucks too, if you haven't been there lately).

Well, I do stray on occasion, but TDB is exciting to me. You're right about it being a bankroll buster, though, if you don't get a premium hand. I will be in Tunica later this year, so I hope that the GoldStrike has some good offerings.

They unfortunately don't right now, and I don't expect it to change. The best overall game based on return percentages is 9/5 JoB for 25c/50c/$1 (98.45%).

As for TDB, not positive what they have, maybe 8/5? I think Gold Strike has 10-play 9/5 DDB with Double Super Times Pay at the 50c level. The variance level of that game is similar to TDB and has a better return than 9/6 TDB (98.36% w/Double STP; one of the best games at the Gold Strike). I'll try to make a better note of the best TDB there if I make it before you get there.

CET properties in Tunica either offer 9/5 or 9/6 TDB at the $1/$5 level, I think, I don't recall which one for sure, I'll check. They all offer 9/6 DDB at $1, $5 levels, which generally is one of their best overall return options for the higher variance player.

Thanks for the info, VMan. Right now, I am looking at an April Tunica trip, when it will likely be warm enough to golf. I have a 7Star Tier III offer from Horseshoe for a Memphis Grizzlies game (plus room, dinner, golf, etc) in one of the suite boxes. I am not a basketball fan, but it sounds like a nice experience.

With Horseshoe and GoldStrike right next door, I can pick my poison for gaming.
