Free play percentages
I have done the math at Mohegan sun to see how much free play you earn based on coin in. In my case it amounts to a little over 1/2 of 1 percent of your coin in per trip and you get nothing at all if you don't run over 17,000- through the machines in a gaming day. Aside from that, email offers and mailings add up to about another 1/4 of one percent a month of coin in. This does not count other forms of comps, just the free play offerings. At any rate, with perfect play, and playing only 9/6 job, with those numbers you should be able to stay even or slightly better for the year. Why then do vp players like myself who play there lose tens of thousands of dollars a year with nearly perfect play on the 9/6 job game. I wish I knew but it is happening that is for sure to nearly every regular vp player up there. My true losses are in the 5-6% range of coin in which is about the same as other regulars I know well enough to have surveyed.

At the one local casino I play enough to get freeplay on. I have been consistently playing a minimum of $1000 coin-in through it and maybe $100 coin in on some random things, like my gf playing penny slots on my card. I've been a minimum of $5 back in a mailer ever since and sometimes free rooms. But it might be interesting to see this month. I actually won for once. But I also put in 6 hours of live poker that day too. So hopefully I get the same offers back.

Mix in a little play on higher volitility games, like DDB and TDB, and secure some higher payouts. One AWAK on TDB is 4000 versus 125 in JOB. You need a lot of JOB quads to make up that difference.
Once again, though, the games are higher volitility, so if it ain't working on a particular session, you can fall back to JOB.

Even if you don't get a royal flush, you should lose at most 3% of coin in. 5-6% seems really high for perfect play.

I am curious because of how convincingly you said 3% as a loss for perfect play. from 1992 Up until 2005, I can definitely state that, for the most part, my play in LAs Vegas, Reno and other NEVADA casinos yielded around a 97% TOTAL payback....some years I turned a profit, especially the years 1999 thru 2002, other years I broke even and several years did poorly, but my results always were in line with acceptable ranges. Since 2005, what play I have had in Vegas has been around 95-96% (lousy but still acceptable)....but my AC video Poker is off the charts bad in terms of return %.....from 2009 until today its something like 79-80%. If a person goes to AC today and plays the best paytables they have (99%), I guarantee you if you log over 100,000 hands you almost certainly will not be anywhere near 3%, unless you truly are the luckiest turkey in New Jersey and manage to hit 6 ot 7 (or more) royals instead of the expected 2 for such a hand count.

Probably just an ordinary 'joe' from 'chgo'...
But, in that area, there are several different casino options, from Horseshoe Hammond to Joliet to Aurora to the new casino near the airport.

Definitely perfect play. The only rare error is when I may play fast and miss a sticky button. That only happens about once in 3,000 hands.

He does play in Chicago. He took a shot at the 99.96% ultimate 4 of a kind bonus last week that I found at Hammond. It's in the attention billyjoe: Horseshoe Hammond thread.
