2014 Caribbean Cruise

Post by BillyJoe »

Back from a visit to Nassau, St Thomas and St Maarten on the RCI Oasis of the Seas. Nice MGM Mirage casino-sponsored NOIR 7-day cruise - no charges other than gaming. Mirage had activities every day - pool parties, beach parties and dinners. Lots of Pina Coladas by day and Makers Marks by night.

Lousy VP in the casino. No TDB at all, with DDB at 7/5. I played mostly table games, with all those gorgeous Romanian dealers. I did succumb to a little VP, catching an RF (held a lone Jack) and two AWAKs on $2 DDB, with another RF and AWAK on $0.25 ten-way DDB. No pics of the hands, since I did not have my phone in the casino. I also scored two $500 Mirage FreePlay awards, which I will use in June in Vegas.

Here are a couple pics from the cruise..

---
Our ship, which is currently the largest in the Caribbean.

---
Here I am trying to score with a couple of the island 'locals'.

---

---
My Mirage host and I on the beach. She is such a sweety. Looks good in a bikini, too.

---
One of the private beaches from one of our beach parties. The water there is spectacular.

Next trip is to Tunica in early June for a golf tournament, and of course, a little gaming.

Sounds like you had a fun trip and some pretty good VP action as well. I believe Oasis of the Seas is still the largest cruise ship not only in the Caribbean but in the entire world.

We did the Oasis of the Seas a little over two years ago. Ours was a CET freebie. We really enjoyed it. There were about 250 other CET players and CET employees in our group and a couple of people we met on the cruise that we still keep in touch with.

I guess we are going to miss you on the 7 star experience cruise. We ended up going with the one out of New Orleans the first week of December.

Again, glad you had a fun trip and made the best out of what was available as far as VP was concerned. Two royals and three AWAK's on one trip is not too shabby.

Check out those yellow things on the side....those are actually the LIFEBOATS/Barges, and each one is essentially its own little MOTORIZED boat, complete with engine and gas to run for 72 hours, computerized GPS guidance and steering, satellite communications....... plus enough food & water & medical supplies in each boat for up to 5 days for each person in the lifeboat......only thing I am not sure of is exactly how many people can fit safely in each one of those things....my guess is close to 100.   I am sure each costs a pretty penny with the upkeep needed to keep them ready to use and current and freshly stocked.

According to Royal Caribbean...The ship carries 18 lifeboats that hold 370 people each, for a total of 6,660

Nice trip and nice hits! Was in Nassau in 1972 for our Honeymoon. Did you make the straw market? When we were there, the locals used 59 Caddys for taxi cabs.

Yep - went to the Straw Market. Lots of "No Smoking" signs, for obvious reasons. A few old relic American cars still on the streets there.
