Re: Food for thought
I believe in playing the odds, if I hit a fok in JOB I move or change
games. Can you hit another 4ok right after sure you can people do it,
but I still move the odds say 1 in 423, and moving works for me!Exactly my process. 1 in 423 is 1 in 423. Adios. Although Tuesday I only had one coin in on my quad, and it seemed generous overall. I stayed and another quad came in less than a hundred hands. I had a big two coin bet for that one.

I ask the man if there was anything that controlled the games outcome
and jackpots other than the RNG , "yes, there is a secondary
chip".Ah, the plot thickens! I assume AC just does the RNG, at least I hope so.
I'll assume most locations use the RNG, I just remembered a couple of conversations I've had with casino employees and used the examples to show most probably don't know anymore that the average player. When I do get into an in depth conversation with someone concerning the game of vp and all odds and statistics most people's eyes begin to roll like slot machine reels, I almost always get the same response, "how and why do you know all that stuff." I've only bee to AC best I can remember one time, how's the vp out that way?

I think the way you are interpreting the explanation the casino host is giving, is not the way VP machines are supposed to work in Mississippi, Arkansas, or many other states. Machines are supposed to be having their random number generators (RNG) running at all times, even when you're not playing. It's all about hitting buttons at the right time. The machine is just constantly spitting random cards at you until you hit those draw/deal buttons.
Lets say the machine was nice enough for you to be dealt 4 to a Royal. And lets say in the text below, a "dot" means a missed 4 to a Royal Draw and "R" means you made a Royal if you hit the button at that exact time. The RNG should look something like this until you hit the draw button. If the very last character was an "R" congrats, you made the Royal draw!
..................R.................................................................R....................R.........R.......................R........................................................................................
......R.....R................................................R................................................................................................................R......R..............................................
.........................................................R...........................R.........................................................................R.........................R..........................................
................................................R.R...............................................R.................................................................................................................................
......R.....................R........R............................................................................R.............................R..................................................................R.......R........
Edit: The pattern above I made up to mimic randomness. Here is one using the RNG feature in Excel. I still missed and ran bad in the sample...dammit.
998 Trials: Expected Royals: 21.23, Actual Royals: 16, Probability of 16 or less Royals: 14.84%
...................................................................................R....................................................................R.............................................................RR............
......................................................R.......................................................................R..........................................................................................R..........
........................................................................................................................................................R...........................................................................
.............R............................R..................R...........................................................................R....R.....................................R...............................................
.....................R.......................................................................................R..
Patterns like the above has been the casino story of my life for over 4 years now...
Now if the casinos and or major VP manufacturers like IGT are actually breaking the law, then all bets are off.
FINALLY, a good representation of a modern RNG. Prior to introducing continuous shuffling and RNG re-seeding, your RF draw for your one card may have looked like this..
..................R............................
a STATIC 1 in 47 chance of catching your prized card.
Any wonder why VP "feels different" than years ago?

I have not played VP for as long as most people here.
I just think if players had success in the past but are recently losing, assuming the paytables are the same, I just think its the law of averages catching up.
Most likely it is the reduction of pay tables that is attributing to the losses.

I've only been to AC best I can remember one time, how's the vp out that way?Depends who you ask. I am a low roller, low denom JOB player, so I'm within a hair of break even either way most sessions. DaBurglar's luck has been considerably worse. Best thing about AC is that after hitting a quad you can stroll the boardwalk. Peace out!

Any wonder why VP "feels different" than years ago?Excellent point MPD. Between you and Vman, the VP feel difference should be obvious even to newbies. Elated that I happened to hit on that R for a grand in January.

Thanks everyone for the kind prayers, thoughts, and wishes. Doing a little better today. Just a quick note on the RNG discussion how things even out over time etc. Assuming the machines are not rigged, I just think some of us are in patterns that can last longer than we can. That is because we are dealing with infinity and there are no rules that say if you get no Royals for 3 years for example, they will all catch up in the following 3 years. They may never catch up in a lifetime and others will just hit those hot cycles because they are just plain lucky. Those hot cycles could last a lifetime for some and cold cycles a lifetime for others. Since I have come to that conclusion, I have decided this year and when I am able to continue playing again to concentrate on a game like Deuces Wild where I have a chance of hitting something good like Deuces quads 8 times more that hitting a Royal on JOB and I still have almost the same chance of hitting the Royal on Deuces Wild as JOB anway. The variance is similar on these two games too. Deuses quads gives you at least double your bet every 6 hands or so and JOB every 4 hands or so, but Deuces Wild also gives you your bet or money back lots of times. I think this is why Fla Phil does well with his method or at least one of the reasons anyway. He gets lost of play and lots of hands and over the course of a day at minimal cost and quite a few shots at a big hit. I haven't been too lucky trying it, but I definitely see how you can play all day for a very reasonable bankroll.

Anyone miss the "old" Bally gaming machines. whereby they would draw the TOP cards from the decK?In other words, these machines were only "shuffling" in between hitting the DEAL button....once yu hit DEAL, the deck was shuffled one more time and then it was set aside and (just like in a real card game) the TOP cards are drawn and the game proceeds.I recently in AC played a little bit on an old Bally machine and had a few streaks of hits, playing DDB and "gold mine Bonus poker".....but it has been so long since these machines were as easy to find as IGT games are today, I do not recall if, 15 years ago, the Bally machines were performing significantly better or worse than today's HYPER RNG machines.Anyone else have thought on the old way of simply drawing from the top of the deck?

The big issue with that is, if someone smarter than me is able to crack a casino RNG, they might be able to predict the draw cards just from the deal data. If someone can do that, they would make pretty good money until they got caught. But if the RNG keeps cycling for the draw cards, then you would need to know the exact microsecond to push the draw button (much more difficult).
In my last Vegas trip report, I talked about "Look Ahead Poker" where the machine gave you a look at the very next card off of the deck. They charged you 2 extra credits for the privilege! And while playing it, I held weird things like QQQ8 because I KNEW the next card being drawn that hand was an 8. Just think how much money could someone make if you got to see all the draw cards for free with the normal payouts!

How do you know the machine functions this way? How do you know that the top card is actually the next card or just the back of a card and the RNG is still shuffling until the draw button is depressed and that card comes up?
