Re: Some Things About "Old Vegas"
i'll agree with the new vegas being a constant 'roar' and assault on your senses, but i attibute that to me just being old. i think it wolud be difficult to complain about what has happend to vegas, while i at the same time complain about AC not doing enough to stay updated (i have done that). the younger folks seem to love new vegas and they are currently, the market that has money to spend, because they are delaying marriage, having kids and buying houses. while the noise level is too loud for me, i do not think i would want it any other way. for a couple of days, my entire body is overwhelmed, but then i go back to my boring lifestyle. it is a temporary rush, makes me feel alive, just would not want to live it 24 hours a day.

The new Vegas is more centered towards high end nightclubs, over excessive building structures/hotels, and luxury shops to attract people to spend more than they can afford. Good gambling options take a back seat to those now.
I think Vega's newest resort, SLS resembles that trend.

i am obviously not as smart as the vegas casino because i cannot figure out how they expect to make up for loss gaming revenue, by selling a couple of over priced fruity drinks to the younger crowd. the younger crowd does not gamble much, they prefer to go clubbing and taking pictures of themselves.

I guess I believe "Old Vegas" could be a relative term to any fond memory of what once was and is missed by them.
I haven't been to Vegas in over 5 years, but I have to admit, even back then I couldn't help but notice that my beloved Strip and my most frequented properties seemed less than safe and it was very sad to see.
Still, all in all.....If I had a choice of vacations, there would be no contest....and I would still choose staying at Paris and visiting my fave hangouts.i have seen and heard others make this statement, that Vegas is no longer "safe".....what are we talking about exactly? I perceive it is no better or worse than it has always been, just BIGGER and louder and more confusing for the neophyte gambler/visitor.Seriously, what am I missing? is the STRIP somehow a lot more "UNSAFE" these days, and if so, why and where exactly?
