Why Discuss Politics on This Site?

Post by BobDancer »

Whatever your political persuasion, you'll find people here who agree with you and disagree with you. often vehemently. But why here? this is a video poker site. there are numerous forums of all kinds where people talk about such things all day long. If you want to talk about why (pick a party or person) does or doesn't do (blah blah blah), go there. There is plenty to talk about video poker without turning this forum into a referendum of any political party or person. If you MUST talk about politics here, I request you also talk about online gambling in the same post. That way Webman will delete your post --- and maybe you --- and the rest of us don't have to put up with your particular point of view which is quite likely not the same as our own.

This is a legit gripe, with a certain logic to it.....so let me reply to it logically.Since I freely admit I am the one most likely at the center of the motivation behind B. Dancer's post (along with Notes1, who as of late has expressed some very good thoughts on VIDEO POKER itself which no doubt rub Bob the wrong way), I will pledge henceforth to NOT BE THE ONE to initiate any "politically" themed threads.....EXCEPT in this actual section >>>  "ANYTHING & EVERYTHING" <<<   No doubt Bob chose to place THIS Non-video poker related thread in the any/everything section for this very reason, right Bob?    In fact, let me remind everyone else here that THIS very section, any/everything, is specifically allotted to the forum for any and all TOTALLY NON-related, NON video poker topics, thoughts, rants, etc.As for any "political"-themed threads in the other sections, from this point forward it would  "B" wrong to initiate them in all other sections BESIDES the any/everything section......BUT, as often happens in real life, person-to-person conversations, many topics/threads that start out with a certain focus or theme segue into other, tangential areas or topics, and this includes POLITICS & Social Issues.   Gambling (and hence, VP) is indeed a politically charged topic....that much is obvious to anyone who has spent any length of time in a casino or lives within a few hours of one.    So I would emphasize that if.....IF a thread's focus or theme begins to morph or segue into an area that is politically charged, it WOULD then be ok (as well as relevant) to post some politically themed thoughts. As I get ready to depart in a few hours, heading out to Mr. Dancer's locale, I will spend a few moments ruminating over the extent Gambling's rise and influence in LAs vegas (and Nevada as a "hole") has influenced its politics (or specifically, how a total 'dud' like Harry Reid can hold sway over one of the two major political parties in the USA, based solely on the support and backing he receives from the major Gambling concerns in Vegas & Nevada....)      Yep, Gambling & Politics........nothing to see there folks, move along.......

I think we should rename STRAIGHT flushes to just be called flushes and they should pay out equally. No more of this discrimination.

I'm also tired of the royal flush. Seems like the royals get all the good stuff.

Finally, 20 credits from every win over 50 should go into a pot to buy drinks for people at the bar who aren't putting any money in a machine.

Interesting reading; though I can't help but wonder how much this might be costing me to read it....Seems like an awful lot of time for such a minimal concept..  Better get back to contests so I can try to win 25 bucks.

as i have often make posts that involve matters other than video poker, i will assume dancer is talking to me. the majority of my non VP posts are typically in response to another post. case in point, a thread is in progress about 'never winning'. i was the first to respond to what appeared to me, as a poster going thru some tough times. offered my sympathies and that was it, someone else decided to comment on the original poster's ACA statement. i will not let comments go by, that i believe are wrong. others also felt like commenting.  i did not know dancer was the speech police. he has already run off this site, players who dare to post photos or make comments about certain VP plays, that do not meet his standards. he is/can be rude. he also also taken the side of the casino industry, from which he benefits, to dispel any notion that casinos do not operate at the highest ethical standards. he also has no problem advertising his websites, broadcasts, lesson schedule, all of which he certainly makes money from.  if he does not like reading non VP comments, i would suggest he do what i do when he posts something i do not care to read....skip it. there is only one other site i visit, and at this very moment, they are having an in depth discussion about CET going from 2 ply toilet paper to single ply. i kid you not, check it out. sometimes a little diversion from VP can be good. finally, regarding the threat to ban me or my posts. give me a break, that is the best you can come up with. if whoever is in charge here wants to ban me, so be it, life goes on, i will not lose any sleep over it. if dancer has his way, he would have the entire site to himself.

be glad to. it is mendelson's old forum, was bought and now it is called VEGAS CASINO TALK. the guy who now owns the site has a world series of poker bracelt, many 7* post there and singr posts there. i only check the site once a day, never post, the current discussion includes 'best looking hookers on the strip'. my point was simply that a forum discussion can go in many directions and it does not always have to be about VP.
