Las Vegas is "Disneyland for grown ups" we like to say. Live in Calif., do Vegas several times a year usually for 3 nights (usually the number of free nights I have comped). I play a lot when I am there, don't care what time it is and I enjoy the "freedom" from everyday chores.
Worked as a nurse for 34 years, loved it but it is a hard job. During those years the casino was a great escape. When people would comment on the money "lost" to gambling as they didn't play, I would ask them what their entertainment budget was when they went to Vegas, stayed on the strip, ate at the nice restaurants and went to a show. We all decide how to spend our "entertainment" money, but some of us have a tiny chance of coming home with more. That's entertaining to me.

congrats notes, sounds like you had a great time.where did you stay?i'm passing on vegas this year, the walk thru the united terminal is just a killer and i'm getting too old for it.heading to AC in a few weeks to finish up making my tier credits for diamond next year.

doris, stayed at paris because that was the hotel that came with the comp trip. been there a couple of times, maybe an older crowd, just like me. if I were selecting my hotel and was restricted in my ability to get around, would pick another property.

we flew SW, it takes a hike to get from end of terminal gates to main airport.

speaking of tier credits, I was pleasantly surprised by CET. no matter where I played, they combined all the play each day. when I arrived home, there were those emails stating I had gotten two 1000 point bonuses for two of the days play.

pokerkat, you have is my kind of attitude. my wife is also a nurse, but has not done floor nursing in decades. you are right, that is a tough job.

really agree with your 'great escape' line. there is sooo much mental stimulation going on in vegas, I never thought of all the other daily stuff, that we all normally deal with. arrived home tired, but refreshed.

Sounds, looks like you did a hell of a lot in two days, notes.  Glad you did well.  Two days isn't enough for me when I go; I like the 4nite, 5day.   Ahhhhh....OH, and the plane ride, too All part of my "package of enjoyment"

galey, I did squeeze in a lot for being on the ground less than 72 hours. not much of an airplane lover, but, not as bad with the free access to tv. if one is going to get stuck for a while in an airport, vegas is the place. play VP and get better paytables than many local casinos.

on the return flight on SW, I asked an attendant why no peanuts were being served. was told a passenger had an allergy and requested none be offered. I know folks can have a severe allergy to nuts, but that seemed a bit severe to deny an entire plane load something because of one person. couldn't that person have simply warn a mask? the guy in front of me had brought his own bag of nuts with him and ate them, no one was told, unless you asked.

what if you were allergic to the smell of booze or perfume or anything else?

They have other snacks - they didn't give you pretzels? I'm normally asleep when they pass them out so miss them anyway. :)

yes, they had a few other snacks, but I happen to like peanuts. the main question is where does a single person's needs/wants take priority over an entire group? again, what if someone is bothered by the smell of booze/perfume/tacos/hair gel//baby spit, where does it stop.
