Had a few budget busting trips recently partly my fault because of varying from strategy that was working pretty well and partly because the machines have been ice cold. There is one redeeming factor however. For probably the first and last time in my life, I have been upgraded to the Soar level at Mohegan Sun. It cost me one of my big jackpots over a couple of months, but this will be good for 6 months and I'm not getting any younger. Some on the amenities the Mrs. and I can enjoy are virtually unlimited comp rooms, unlimited lounge access, free buffets every day, ( I'll skip most of those to watch the waistline ), unlimited golf on their private course, tickets to most all of the shows, and more generous earning of points, free play, etc. etc. I am tapering my play back as we speak and have found out the hard way how fast a 500 bankroll can disappear playing 3 to 5 bucks a hand even on multiline games. Funny, as soon as I scaled my play back, within one hour, I caught a Royal on the bottom line of a nickel multi strike game. It was good for 200 bucks instead of the 4000 it would have been good for the day before. Oh well, live and learn, but in my case live and try to learn.

I play max coin quarters and switch to max coin 50 cents or dollars.

I am reluctant to max quarters as it backfires on JOB. But with DW it seems to be smart!

Soar into the stratosphere as low rollers crane their necks to gaze from the ground. What a bonanza!

The dilemma was Soar or 2016 Sentra. My beloved Saturn witn 332k miles is still kicking so for now I chose the Soar. The other big jackpot from July is reserved for the car. The rest of the smaller jackpots from the summer are gone. That is just how vp works. I'm back to my nickel and quarter level now. Will enjoy Soar for the next 6 months. If things go OK and the Saturn gets me through another winter, I may even splurge for a Honda CRV. The only thing is the property taxes kill you in CT as they are based on value. They could easily run 1200-1500 a year on the honda. On the Saturn they are 80 bucks. Edited to add....this statement relates to another thread really, but I want the youngsters out there to be aware of what is happening to retirees out there. Fixed pensions for the most part, huge increases in health care and insurance costs, earning almost nothing on FDIC savings and on and on. I can see what is coming unfortunately. Most seniors will be forced to never or almost never retire and that will tighten up the job market for the youngsters even further. Many companies are valuing the wealth of experience and knowledge of seniors even more and would rather keep them than start an expensive training process with the unknown. Finally most employers I talk to say there is no comparison to the work ethic of older employees and new ones. They can almost always rely on the older ones, not so on the newer ones who want everything now, don't want to wait and work for it, and are always job hopping around.

Soar level sounds like a good one. Too bad it doesn't come cheap :)
Cheers
