Yeah breaking Aces full when the 3 Aces are in position is the only major strategy change, iirc.hophoofer wrote: ↑Mon Feb 24, 2020 9:38 amFor 3 aces on position like the dealt full house ACEKK, AKESK or KKCES etc, holding 3 aces are better for sure.FloridaPhil wrote: ↑Mon Feb 24, 2020 7:58 amI believe the only major difference is in the case of two pair with aces and two of the aces are in the right position, you would only hold the aces. That game is not listed in the pro section of this website either, so I don't know the exact strategy.hophoofer wrote: ↑Mon Feb 24, 2020 7:50 amThere are tons of those games in AC on 7/5 version. The ACES jackpot happens every 300k hands and it adds about 0.27% to overall return. (Or it happens 1 in 60 four aces you get.)
Just ignore that payout of 4000, it doesn’t happen a lot...
Strategy wise, I don’t think ACES bonus makes strategy any different.
For 2 aces on position, I don’t think it’s worth holding single pair of ace coz 2 pair pays double wager. I can calculate it later. I may be wrong.
And I am suprised you hadn't stumbled across this game until now, Phil. It's been around for years.

Didn't Dancer have a blog entry about this game not too long ago?

Thanks for the link. I didn't notice this game because I wasn't looking for it. The new machines at the Hollywood Hard Rock don't have Deuces Wild and I was looking for something to play. I like Bonus Poker, so it looked like a decent game.

I found this article interesting. I am not an advantage player nor do I pretend to be. I have always stated my goal in playing video poker is to extract the most entertainment from the game while minimizing short term bankroll fluctuations. For this reason, I do not concern myself with penalty cards or exception plays worth less than a few cents out of a $1.25 bet. However, I do see the advantage to someone who has long term profit as their goal.
This article helped me. I did not know if I should always hold aces alone. The author's general advice looks like it will work for me. I will use traditional Bonus Poker Strategy as prescribed in my VPW software. If Aces come up in the right positions to make a bonus hand, I will hold the aces. I like this game and am surprised I haven't seen it before now. I don't think they have it in Tampa, but I'm going to look for it on my next trip.

I prefer good old fashioned Double Down Stud Bonus Deuces Wild over Aces Bonus. There are 5 hands that will definitely put me ahead for a session. A dealt natural royal that gives me 5k for a 1.25 bet before doubling on the last card. Similiarly, I can hit 4 deuces with an ace, 4 deuces, 5 aces, or a wild royal all of which have payouts that will put me ahead for a session. I allow about 10 percent of my session time for this game as the long term return is less than 98 percent. However, I can play twice as many hands per hour than deuces or job and the strategy is simple. Lifetime, I have hit 3 dealt royals on it for 5k, 5k, and 18 k. all of which I have posted about. There are very few of these machines left and the casinos arent replacing them.
I think that is because even novice vp players can play it and not make too many mistakes on doubling, if a patron only has a couple of hours to play they can play double the probability of getting a good hand in the same time period, and three the casinos are not happy with keeping 2.5 percent or so. They like to keep closer to ten percent.
So many people pay no attention to paytables or strategy on draw poker games as well as malfunctioning machines or playing too fast that I believe for many people their vp returns are only 91 or 92 percent. The State of Ct has a portal where anyone can view both Ct casino results. Vp returns are lumped together with slots and the casino hold for themselves has been in the 9 percent range since they opened.

Unfortunately, you can't change the pay tables if all the machines are the same. You can refuse to play and ride over to South Point where the games are better. Since South Point is 2,279 miles from my home, that's not a great option.olds442jetaway wrote: ↑Fri Feb 28, 2020 12:22 pmSo many people pay no attention to paytables or strategy on draw poker games as well as malfunctioning machines or playing too fast that I believe for many people their vp returns are only 91 or 92 percent.

I believe 91 or 92% is being generous. I like to watch people just to see how they play video poker. I don't make it obvious and I never comment on strategy. Most video poker players I watch aren't even close to being accurate. It seems like the bigger they play, the worse it is. Last week a lady was sitting next to me playing dollar DDB. I watched her hold an unsuited Ace King twice. It seemed she was using Jacks or Better strategy to play DDB. I could hardly stand to watch, but I didn't say a thing. I learned a long time ago not to interfere.

Greektown did have the 8/5 version here for dollars until 2 years ago when they destroyed all of their good 99%+ VP. Best game there now is 15/9/4/4/3/2/1 DW STP for dollars. I never did play the ACE$ BP game.

Phil, you are aware that pay tables can change depending on denomination. Correct? So you are only making this point if a player is on a machine that has a locked in denomination?FloridaPhil wrote: ↑Fri Feb 28, 2020 12:51 pmUnfortunately, you can't change the pay tables if all the machines are the same.
I do not know what most experts say about this though.
