It has been many years, but I used to enjoy Ryan’s Buffet in Kingsport Tn about an hour from the family farm in Southwestern Virginia. If I lived near there, my waistline would certainly reflect it. I just can’t resist Southern cookin as much as I have lived up North all of my life. Don’t put biscuits and white gravy and country ham anywhere near me. I also miss some of the Asian Buffets up here in Ct. Unfortunately, the Sodium content is bad in all of them. As I write this, I am enjoying a cup of green tea and for now resisting the baked goodies that are just steps away. I miss the Mohegan Sun Breakfast Buffet the most. Unfortunately, they also offered Southern style buscuits with white sausage gravy my weakness.
Borgata would not just have mashed potatoes , they were called Borgata mashed potatoes ,and at times would have baked beans which reminded me of horn and hardarts baked beans ! with there cooked salmon forget it ! the restricted calorie diet would be put off for a day or so . I estimated I had apx. 4000 calories one particular visit to Borgata ! I was on a 1200 calorie diet ,will take weight off rapidly , if you stay on long enough ! that day was a total failure !!
The last time I was at the Borgata was March 16. In the Amphoria Lounge Buffet the employee would put the food on the plate that you requested. Then at the end they would hand you the plate.
I would take a plate and tell them what I wanted. Of course you have to watch them. I told the server I wanted a steak that they had. Of course she grab the one that was dried out and look like it was laying there all afternoon. Of course a said NO, NO, NO, give me that one the I pointed to look a lot fresher. They don't want you touch the utensils. There were no salt and pepper on the table also.
