Re: valet parking
Where I play there is no charge for valet (probably due to my diamond ranking). If there was a charge I for sure would not use valet. I don't play where you get charged to get onto the boat either. I am pretty dang cheap.

I'm with CD. Never use it. I hate waiting for my car. I'd rather be driving to another casino.
I had to use it when gaming first started here in CO, since none of the casinos wanted to waste prime space for parking, They shared the expense of one large lot about 1/4 mile away, and which was located right next to the local sewage treatment facility. I mean, RIGHT NEXT to it! Phew!

What a load of crap! All the prime parking spaces have little blue signs posted in front of them. You can park there if you have a handicap placard or risk the $300 parking fine.

I always fill my car with gas before I leave for Reno. One time I looked at the gas gage and it was on empty 3/4 of the way back!!! I called the casino, and they said that "it never happens" and that they have security cameras on all the time.

I'm sure they DO have video cameras on the parking lots. But they have to review them to verify something took place and suspect that they just didn't want to take the time to review them and take action against someone they probably would never be able to identify for ripping off $30 or $40 in gas! A really bad break for you! I do hope you were close to a gas station when you noticed you were running on empty!I've used valet parking at most of the casinos in Vegas with no problems. Maybe I've just been lucky. But in most cases, it saves me a lot of distance in walking and that is something that for me is a tremendous boon. Back problems. I've used it at most all of the casinos locally that we spend the night at except AmeriStar in Kansas, City. Valet parks "uncovered" but there is a huge free covered parking garage.

Mike, you can always use one of those assistance walkers with the little hand brakes. They also have a built-in seat so you can't complain about the accomodations! If need arises, I'll donate a couple of tennis balls so the metal legs won't scuff the floor of the casino! But I'll need a mailing address.

Mercedes owner from Grand Rapids, MI claimed 80 miles had been put on his car when in valet parking at Gerald R Ford International Airport. Airport police are investigating. He had set the trip odometer to zero when he dropped off his car on his last four day business trip. He had previously suspected the valet service was doing a little extra driving. It's a four mile round trip between airport and valet parking lot. (from news item 3-2-08)

Must say that sounds dumb to me. If the valets are doing it regularly doesn't it make sense they would reset the trip odometer back to zero? It would be more problematic to leave it at some number. But why wouldn't he just chart the vehicle odometer? I suppose they also didn't replenish the gas.

I'd think that the valets' employer wouldn't be too happy with them going missing for road trips instead of working.

We used to call those Road Tastes in the Auto Biz. Cup of Coffee and a donut. The nearest Starbucks must be a 40 mile drive for them.
The thought occurred to me that maybe the 80 miles came from the Valets having to drive around looking for a parking spot.
