Re: Harrah's NYE
I finally noticed the Cove Five Star machines. That’s my bank. Which one do you prefer?

I prefer the inboard unit 14476, because the outer one has more traffic going past and I don't like people walking behind me or looking over my shoulder. And it is more shielded from the bank of slots against the wall and the noise that comes with them.
BTW- I noticed they added 3 more 5 Star machines in a triangle next to the triangle containing the existing 5 Star. Likely added due to the popularity of these games. However, the new machines have inferior pay tables and no one was taking the bait. The people who play the 5 Star machines do so for a reason- they know they are 10:1 with the best pay tables along with a variety of popular game variants.
If the next move is to downgrade the original units to match the new ones, there will be a mass exodus of serious VP players to other venues, including yours truly.

I don't like people standing behind me watching my play either. In the past, I've stopped play and turned around, staring quietly at the person who was watching me. After a few seconds they get the hint and move on.TripleTriple wrote: ↑Sat Feb 22, 2025 12:29 pmand I don't like people walking behind me or looking over my shoulder.

I also stop play and pretend to take a phone call or just go on my phone to look up something. That is after I make sure the person in back of me is aware that I know they are there. I also sit back in my chair and relax and slowly sip a coffee or tea or water I always have within reach. Most of the remaining VP players ( fewer by the day ) are savvy enough to not play the inferior VP machines that have recently been installed. They have even downgraded some machines from 8/5 to 7/5. Luckily there are some 99 percent quarter machines left. At least for now.

If it's a smoker, I may ask them to watch my machine.olds442jetaway wrote: ↑Sat Feb 22, 2025 4:23 pmI also stop play and pretend to take a phone call or just go on my phone to look up something. That is after I make sure the person in back of me is aware that I know they are there.
And then I go play on the other side of the casino.

I haven’t made note of the actual unit numbers, but I will check them out today. But I understand. The corner one has way too much traffic. And those damn slots along the wall are obnoxiously noisy. Woman got a $3,800 win last week right after I celebrated my quad Aces. 10:1 TC is excellent. No wonder you love them. What is mine? I assume 20: 1 TC.

They accrue much faster than 50. I could clock it. Either 10 or 20:1 seems right. Leaning 10.

I agree, but it's not a well-accepted principle. Most players, if you mention earn rates will scold you: Don't play for comps!TripleTriple wrote: ↑Sun Feb 23, 2025 7:10 amIf you don't know you are violating yet another VP principle.

At the risk of a double entendre, I saw TT’s unit today. Unfortunately, it went unplayed. All the loudmouth patrons seeking such machines chose the one next to me and lost their tails off. TT knows what he’s doing.
