Re: NEW TO VP, NEED TO KNOW THIS!?
If you use a spreadsheet it will calculate those number for you. I keep two separate numbers (I also look at comps). For example, last year my wife and I eared $14.86/hour gambling and $3.02/hour in comps.
That's a little better than my very best year ever, SM. So if you and your wife decide to switch to honest work () you'd be the shift managers at Mickey D's, and I'd just be one of the peons.

cd, you should also note what pay tables you are playing on. If you do most of your play on those low paying colorado pay tables, 3% isn't too bad over long term for a year right?
If I finished 3% ahead every year I'd be one happy camper! Most of that play was on 9/7 DB (99.11%), and I had my best year for RFs with one every 29K hands, and a good year for Aces as well. The casino where I got most of that play in also gave me two tickets to their suite at Invesco to watch the Donkeys three times, and the Avs once. Those suite tickets are $1K a pop, which I consider to be part of my winnings. Playing here, I don't expect another year as good as that for quite some time.

Then why play video poker, if it takes so much money to make such little profit. your telling me that there's no way that I can make $20,000 from a few days running $500.

Yup, there's no magic. If it were easy the casinos would not offer the 100% games or they'd be out of business. I like it that way.

. your telling me that there's no way that I can make $20,000 from a few days running $500. Ace: run those five bills through a megabucks machine. You, like the rest of the players will have a one in a meta-million chance of hitting a big one. A woman hit one for over 200 million last month at the Palms so it's not unreachable.

Because it's an enjoyable pastime with interesting math. The beauty of the math is that the odds guarantee a specific probability but your results will vary in the short term. VP is one of the better bets in the casino. I can always improve my hands/hour and accuracy. Learn strategy to new games. Many hours spent playing for free on this site and others plus the hope of winning in the casino gives great value for the entertainment dollar. The very best and knowledgeable people contribute to this forum enhancing the VP experience. According to this thread, well played VP may generate 1 to 3% in annual income ergo money invested in VP is more fun than the same amount in a passbook savings acct. I play because I love a good challenge and get to associate on line with the brightest, wittiest and most helpful folks. In my case it behooves me to to never forget that VP is my game of choice and my major form of interactive entertainment. Also it's good to remember that at the casino, it's far more possible for the miracle of taking $20k and turning it into $500 to occur than vice versa.

And that might be 1% PER DAY, or however often the bankroll turns over.

BIG STEVE: VERY WELL STATED. THIS YEAR IS A UP YEAR FOR ME SO FAR WITH 2 WINNING MONTHS, I BREAK EVEN MONTH AND 2 THAT I CAME UP SHORT. JUST PROVES IN THE LONG HAUL IT BETTER BE ENJOYABLE MORE THAN A NECCESSARY WAY TO MAKE A LIVING.
