Hey there Bd, have a great time in Vegas. Once you go you'll want to keeping going back.

Reading through the posts I have to agree overall.

One thing not mentioned is staying at an off-strip casino and taking that casino's shuttle to and from the strip. Palace Station is my casino of choice not so much for anything but the way they make you feel invited. They are very good with thier comps and free room offers after your first time there.
Never once did I have a bad time at the Palace.

One thing I did notice in Vegas though, once you take a round trip cab ride to downton, you may have well have rented a car. The monorail is ok, but doesn't go all over the place, just the strip.

Do see as many of the strip casinos as possible, they are something to see. They are, from my expierence, just to be seen. I don't play much at them as they seem to be a tad on the tight side. Except the Wynn, that place plays like an off strip casino, can't complain at all about it!

If you can, check out Sam's Town(very off strip). It is huge with the best choice of slots/vp I have ever seen.

Also, don't forget to sign upfor your slots card at every property you can ! I currently have 58 cards(includes non-operatign casinos) :)

Enjoy you're trip and leave some cash for me and my buds, we're in Vegas 12/10 - 12/17 Wooo Wooo Wooo !!!!!

circus circus is gross and way at the end of the strip. the best located hotel with good rates is probably the Imperial Palace. It's kinda dirty
inside but the location is good. Another decent location with decent rates is Bally's. It's clean and i find the casino very comfy.

If you stay off the strip, I'd suggest the Orleans. This is where I stay. It's clean, the casino is huge, AND, they have an 18-room movie theater, a almost 80-lane bowling alley AND an arcade for the kids. The restaurants are so-so but it's only a mile or so from the strip and the room rates are always very good.

By the way, Mon Ami Gabi is a great restaurant (someone mentioned it earlier in the post) but the service there is major attitude. I have been there about 7 times over the years and will not go back after the horribly rude waiter we had last time. sitting outside on the patio is charming, but if you are going in december, it will either be too cold to sit out there or it may be closed (i've seen them close the patio altogether when it's freezing out).

If you want a truly Vegas dining experience, go the the Peppermill on the Strip (right across from Circus Circus). Yes, you will have to take a cab if you don't mind talking a LOOoong walk. It's truly a one-of-a-kind place. It's my absolute favorite restaurant. The portions are huge and the service is always great! go for brunch and get the fruit bowl (around $16 bucks). It's roughly 15 lbs of fruit (wedged out pineapple shells filled with every fruit you can imagine) toothpicked together, served with warm banana-nut bread with marshmallow sauce (YUM!!!) and either sherbet, cottage cheese or yogurt (on top or on the side).

Have a blast!
